LCD Tvs

yesterday i splurged and bought a 32" Sharp LCD HDTV , model LC-C3242U. it was a pretty good deal at Costco for $800 plus tax. the are very light and easy to handle, unlike the old TVs that weighed a ton.

i hooked it up and the picture is not nearly as good as in the stores. my guess is because you have to purchase the HDTV service from your cable company for the stunning picture. otherwise it looks like a regular tv.

is this the case? anyone pay cable company for HDTV service? is it worth it? expensive? does it have to be in main digital box or does the HDTV transmit thru all connections in the house?

you have to have the hd reciever to get hd. With my cable company all you do is get the HD receiver and then you can get the hd channels for no extra cost.

It should look better than regular tv, but not as good as the store assuming the store was hooked up to HD TV.

thanks i am learning. i have not bought a new tv for a few years and also having trouble connecting thru my new VCR/DVD player. it used to be easy but now they make DVD/VCRs without coaxil connections. i cannot get the tv to work hooked up thru the DVD player.

it is so goddamn frustrating how technology changes every five minutes.you have to spend so much time relearning how to set things up and use them.

I have a 27" tv in the living room that my roommate has pretty much commandeered. I still watch my 19" that is so old I can't connect the digital cable box AND the dvd player at the same time.

Get a HDTV box through your service provider. You won't regret it.

once you get the box do you have monthly fees? i went on Cox's website and looked at HDTV fees briefly and they seemed expensive, like $50/month. i just looked briefly so may have misunderstood.
