I have an LCD screen in the kitchen, a regular plasma in the living room and an HD Plasma in the media room - there is a difference - if you like movies or watching sports it will show...
if you are casual viewer then LCD uis fine.

I did`nt even know that plasma came in nonHD variety. I know that LCD comes with regular AND HD models.
They say the blacks on LCD is not as good as the Plasma as Matt is saying. But I`m sure with a top of the line LCD HD You `ll be very happy.
IMO If you don`t care about space/asthetics I would go with the Rear projection HD or DLP TV.

You have to be careful when buying plasma.
There is your standard "plasma" 42: runs you about $3000 - $4000.
There is an HDTV-capable plasma - gimmick all the way, goes for like $5000.
The true HD plasma is about a $9000 or above purchase.
(These are 42" prices)
HDTV plasma is not HD plasma. Shady marketing....but there is a noticeable difference in quality.
beastboy said:The RP LCD was 5K less than the PLasma and had just as good of a picture....I think I'll opt for that.
CheeseDick said:The only thing Plasma are good for is for their flat structure
gonelifting said:What size are you looking for beastboy? Any particular manufacturer in mind?
beastboy said:What about a satellite feed on the LCD?
gonelifting said:
Yes very interested in that as well.
Also beastboy if you have satellite, You gotta factor in another 1k on top of your Purchase price for wires and a receiver for the HD (if you don`t already have a HD tv) The receiver is anywhere from $300-$700 and then you`ll need component cables. Alot of people overlook these things.
gonelifting said:Any HD tv will need a receiver like that UNLESS it is built in the TV which is rare and not recommended. I think that`s what Mattsky was talking about. Those are the very expensive ones.

I do recommend it as it is the superior picture, however, it is very expensive ($9000 and up). It is like looking out the window.
if you are furnishing something liek a media room I would get it. otherwise, it's just a luxury for the sake of luxury and probably not a wise purchase.
I don't know how a "regular" plasma set fitted with an HDTV receiver will compare to it.

Dial_tone said:LCD televisions are both a tv and a computer monitor. That's all I know.
CipherLock said:I think it's also a huge money thing. Plasma televisions are freaking obscenly expensive.
ZKaudio said:the picture on digital cable is not that superior imo to analog cable... get an hd digital box.
