lawyer sues Yahoo over message-board posts

I'm really suprised nothing like this has occured here (or has it? bikimom et.al?!)... Definately food for thought though..

LOS ANGELES, Aug 5 (Reuters) - A California lawyer who has waged an ongoing battle with Yahoo Inc. over personal attacks made against him on Yahoo message boards has filed a proposed class-action lawsuit against the company.

The suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday by associates of corporate attorney Stephen Galton, claims Yahoo has unfairly protected people who post negative messages on its bulletin boards and falsely advertised that it prevents such abusive messages.

"It wouldn't be prudent for us to comment on this pending lawsuit," Yahoo spokeswoman Mary Osako said in a statement.

The suit proposes as a class any California resident who has been targeted by abusive messages on a Yahoo board, who tried to get such messages stopped or learn the identity of the message poster, and who had such requests denied within the last four years. It seeks restitution, a permanent injunction and other forms of relief.

Well seriously if there was someone that was defaming you on a messageboard repeatedly and no one would do anything about it then i'd start shit too. Yahoo..Haha..Ever try and actually contact them and get ahold of a real peron? It's nigh impossible to find any contact info on that site, all you do is get routed around to FAQ pages.

One time someone hijacked my geocities page and put my name on the page and said i was gay, and all this other shit. Could never ever get ahold of yahoo admin.

That's stupid. Everyone is annanymous so if someone is bothering you can change your handle, argue back, leave the board etc... Grown people are like kids still, everyting you need to know about life has indeed been thaught in kindergarden.


BTW: Do you guys remeber when MUSCLE TECH tried to sue this board because of what was said on the anabolic forum about their marketing and products? LOL! This kind of stuff happens all the time.
