Lateral Gluteal (hip) injection

Has anybody self-administered a Lateral Gluteal, also called ventrogluteal, or hip injection? I can find directions for administering it, but if you read them you'll see that it's not possible to self-administer in the way they describe.

e.g.

http://www.acs.ohio-state.edu/units/osuhosp/patedu/Materials/PDFDocs/medicatn/geninfo/intrainj.pdf

The reason I'm interested in this is that according to this web site, this is the only other site besides the posterior glute that can accommodate 3 ccs. So supposing you need to inject 9 cc's a week. You can do 3 in the left gluteal, 3 in the right, but there's no other site that can accommodate 3 cc's so you'd have to split it up into three 1cc injections. The lateral gluteal injection would solve that problem. I have also read that it is just as painless as the normal (posterior) gluteal injection, maybe even better.

Thanks!

seems like more of a pain to go through all that. You say that you can't administer it yourself?

I'm kinda chicken shit about quads, but 2cc's in the delts are no problem. You could split it up 1.5 each

Bro, I hit that spot ALL the time. It is basically just below and to the rear of your hip bone/pelvis.

It is actually easier to hit than the rear glute area. The link you posted is also very descriptive, I like the fact that it points out where the sciatic nerve is.

I usually hit hit this spot more often because it causes less pain and bruising.

I actually started with this injection site cuz it was where I had got many other IM shots in the past. It is the typical injection site that nurses use when they really dont want to see your scary hairy white ass!! LOL All you got to do to find it is pull down your drawers about 2 inches and you are in the right area. I have noticed a bit of site specific muscle growth fom doing this. I notice it when I flex my glutes looking for another place to hit.

Go for it, it works well.

It's the easiest and most comfortable place to inject for me. Unfortunately, I've hit it so often that the area protrudes a bit from all the scar tissue... :( A great injection spot, just don't forget to rotate spots when you're doing a lot of shots.

I would not recommend it, serious vessels and not as much muscle as the quad or glute,

I often do 9 ccs I week. Have monoject syringes and needles that are 6cc, can put 6cc into one glute fine, if you think I am wasting my gear let me know.

thanks
