Late night eating

I have been having trouble with late nigh eating these past few weeks. I finish work at 11pm and by the time I go to sleep its about 1am. Every single night I wake up between 3:30-4:30am and have a craving for any food or liquids. I eat whatever is in my way but I have to stop doing that because my diet in the daytime is very good. I eat 6 small meals containing 45g protein with either super low fat or carbs. The only carb meals I have are 80g carbs post workout with my protein shake and another 80g for the meal after post workout.( 90 minutes later) I am 190lbs. I feel full day time but when night time comes, watch out! :) Anything I can do to not wake up in the middle of the night or be hungry at night? Thanks!

I'm like that bro when I'm dieting down and get horrendous carb cravings at night - I gobble a raw carrot which seemed to work surprisingly well. Also, I make sure I have a protein shake just before bed which keeps me o.k. till the cockrill calls!!

are you eating because you're truly hungry, or because of you have munchies?
i find that if i absolutely must eat something late night, broccoli does the job of providing me with vitamins, anti-oxidants, protein, and carbs and..... it fills you up quite easily.

otherwise, before bedtime i usually mix 12oz of water with a no-carb protein powder and if i wake up late night i sip on that.
it won't exactly fill you up but those extra 30g of protein will give you peace of mind.

if you have to eat anything near or in the midst of sleep, make sure it doesn't have a lot of carbs in it.

Your body doesn't need much energy while you are asleep
protein and fat is good with a 'little' bit of carbs to help transport the goodies to your muscles

it is my understanding that the body burns calories while sleeping at rate slightly above you just sitting around on the couch during the day. the munchin on veggies like broccoli is a pretty solid idea imo

At 1 AM when you sleep, Do you eat anything beforehand? If not try taking a Caseine (sp?) protein shake. They`re supposed to be slow digesting. During the day you eat low fat /low carb, but you should increase your fat intake a little try Flax oil. I think you should do alright with those 2 things.
If you do wake up hungry, just drink a premixed protein shake like leancuisine suggested.

i keep 2 scoops of protein customizer nighttime formula dry in a cup on my bathroom sink with a spoon handy, when i wake up i just add some water from the sink and mix it up and down it, dont mix all that well but when your only half awake who cares?

before bed, fish oil + caseign protein + psyllium = happy me with a shit waiting for me next day :D Before bed is the only time i can take fish oil because I dont have to worry about talking to people and burping up a rotting salmon smell. lol
