Ladies~Who here has Acrylic Nails?

wow I actually read this thred and a little part of male in me died inside

Damn... the first time I got acrylic nails was when I was early 30's because I had become fairly muscular and felt like I had "man hands" without them, not good if you want to model. LOL It took A LONG TIME for me to find a salon where somebody did them properly without hitting me with the drill or burning my nail bed. I LOVE pedicures but HATE getting my nails done.

I don't do competitive bbing anymore and *shrunk* LOL, then ran out of money so I had the tips taken off. I realize, "Oh shit, I have really pretty natural nails." Not only is it waaaaaaaaay less expensive to get a 10 dollar manicure every 2 weeks (my nails grow fairly slowly) but there is no pain and I wouldn't bother w/polish. I would just have her buff my nails by hand. My nails were always short and well-kept, extremely low maintanence.

When I started dated the Old Grump he loved long nails so I had the tips put back on. I found a girl in Texas who did a GREAT job but we ran outta money, etc so again I went back to natural nails. Then we got financially settled, I had them put back on. The girl who used to do my nails got pregnant and you could tell the quality of her work was not as good. FOR MONTHS I have been looking for a nail salon where the tech actually LISTENS TO WHAT I TELL THEM. I like my nails done in a very specific way.

BTW - I haven't had acrylic tips for YEARS. What I do is get the powder over my natural nails so there is no lifting of any sort. They are my nails with pink powder on the bottom and white powder on the tip. I don't *do* hooker length nails (inappropriate for a woman my age). So I get the white part redone every other time.

I like my nails shorter with a very VERY soft square, almost round, with NO sharp edges.

My advice? Quit the vietnamese places. They have no clue about customer service as a whole. Culturally there is no such a thing. IMHO it is better to find an english speaking salon and pay a few dollars more. This way you can explain to the tech EXACTLY how you want your nails done and if you are not fully satisfied I will guarantee you, they will make good. I know this will sound classist or racist but it is not. Americans understand the value of customer service whereas people from very poor countries, well there it is "dog eat dog". Literally, if you don't like my service then DONT COME BACK.

My nails... crappy pic, but I think you get the idea.

I can't stand thse white fake nails - they always break off when I am on the keyboard. J/k.

Asked my wife and daughter both not to get them - looks way to fake and porn starish for me. But that is just one man's opinion.
