Today, I ran into this girl from back home on campus. I didn't think she remembered me, but she said "Oh yeah, you're so and so's little sister." Before I came to college, I was known to a lot of people as so and so's daughter or so and so's sister. I only had my own identity free of them with people who knew me first. After I came to college, I was known by who I am and what I have made myself. Today blew that out of the water. lol. Does anyone else hate being referred to as someone that knows someone else? Such as a little brother or sister, daughter, friend, etc.?

no

never happened to me :D......

ok....occasionally with cousins

It has never happened to me, but one of my friends used to get that all the time. Her sister was a beauty queen, honor student, married a doctor, etc.. The funny thing was, she was prettier than her sister, has a much better personality, and is actually happier, but because she is younger she always gets that.

BTW. Why did your parents name your sister so and so?

Cute, really cute.

I would someday like to be referred to as Quadsweeps BIG brother, but unfortunately that is a long way off.

I just don't like riding my big brother's coat tails or anything like that. I've made my own identity in college. I'll keep it that way, thanks. :)

I think that must be a sibling thing.

I do have a doppleganger, but beyond that I never get pegged as anything other than me.

Well, it makes me feel better that people will say oh yeah, you're her brother aren't you? It's great. But yeah, it's a sibling thing.

Then again...

My partents are both University profs, with five or six post-grad degrees between them. When I was going to school, I had a lot of pressure from people to measure up to my parents academic success. Considering I hate school, that was a bit annoying at times. :)
