Lab results in

hmale

New member
Well gentlemen,

I am a 44 year old male who has never exercised in his life, but who has been naturally muscular and athletic. About 6 weeks ago I joined a gym and started working out for health's sake....then the iron bug bit and I just can't get enough information on bodybuilding.

A friend of mine suggested I consider hormone replacement therapy as that may help me in the long run.

My lab results came back and they are as follows:
Total testosterone--972 ng/dl
Free test--344.9 pg/ml
Free test %--3.55%
SHBG--4 nmol/L
Serum estradiol--359 pg/ml

My doctor was shocked by the results and we performed the labs again and the results of the second test were consistent.

He told me I did not qualify for HRT, but that I needed to get my estradiol levels down immediately. He prescribed Arimadex which I have been taking faithfully for 2 weeks.

My concern is that I have made some nice gains over the last month or so (15 lb gain and less bodyfat---I know I have less bodyfat because I lost 1.5" off my waist) and I don't want to slow things down due to the Arimadex....Any comments on what may occur???

Thanks and forgive a new guy for asking what may be a dumb question.

Cheers!

BTW I did not take any measurements before I started other than weight and waist size which were 190 lbs and 33" respectively.

I measured myself yesterday:
Chest (exp) 47"
Biceps 16.5"
Waist 31.5"
Legs 23"
Calves 16"
Weight 205 lbs.

Nice test level, if you aren't on anything. Anyway, how tall are you, because I've had larger measurements at 200 ibs, I'm 5'9".

i could e reading that wrong, but you have a highr test level than most ppl my age.

Yep, because 4 weeks after my first cycle, mine came back 846 ng/Dl after finishing my post cycle, and my doctor was like, "Wow, that is pretty high."

You are in the genetic elite to have the stats you do at your age - the doc is right on target with the adex recommendation, high E levels are a natural byproduct of high T levels as one ages. However considering you are natural your may want to consider the OTC route such as calcium glutarate, chrysin, DIM, etc. to lower your e levels somewhat.
