L-tyrosine for sluggish thyroid?

I got this from a sports nutrition magazine

"Stengler suggests taking your temperature five days in a row. If it's consistently below 98.2 degrees, your throid could be sluggish. The amino acid L-tyrosine helps support thyroid function."

so if i do constantly have a temp around 96 degrees, should i be supplementing L-tyrosine? would that help at all to pick up my metabolism a bit?

i have gotten a blood test recently for this purpose, and my levels aren't low enough for them to give me medication, because I don't fit exactly in the range as would someone with hypothyroidism;however i do have almost every symptom of it. So i wanted to help regulate myself with something over the counter.

Some of the dietary supplements that you can purchase to help the production of T3 and T4(hormones produced by the thyroid, chief regulators of metabolism) are gum guggle extract, and kelp (iodine). Those tend to help. L-tyrosine is in a lot of thermogenic products because of the effects it has on neurotransmitters in the brain and it will help with satiety and appetite suppression, no so much for thyroid output. Good luck!!
