L-Carnitine...is it worth it?

well the first abstract is with people who are deficient in l-car.... you would have to have some sort of condition for this to occur... (or an extremely poor diet)

Quoted from the first abstract:

"This is the first investigation to conclusively demonstrate that oral L-carnitine supplementation results in an increase in long-chain fatty acid oxidation in vivo in subjects without L-carnitine deficiency or without prolonged fatty acid metabolism. Copyright 2002, Elsevier Science (USA). All rights reserved."

This shows you do not have to be deficient in L-Carnitine in order for it to help with fatty acid oxidation.

And the other two abstracts show great results in recovery and performance.

right.. i read it wrong...

I used to use real pharma Levocarnitine (thats its full name), some pharmacies should still have this - as there are L-carnitine deficient individuals whom suffer serious side effects from not having it in their diets at all. However for the general public most (like the folks here on EF) are not any where near deficient (I believe - and someone can maybe clarify this that red meat contains copius or sufficient amounts).

Anyways I thought at the time (8yrs ago) it would help with my then very new keto-diet I was trying out. The results... not too much I noticed - however like a few others have mentioned it is a supp and maybe it might have some minimal effects on fat oxidation however - trivial I feel at best my $0.02....

I took ALCAR and it definitely helped in shedding fat----however I didn't take it for that reason---I am a college athlete and I read a lot of articles that said to supplement with it to up your endurance---and I can honestly say that the shit works---The only thing is you need to have around 3-5 grams a day for any effects to take place---After taking it for a couple weeks I noticed that I was shedding fat with no change in my diet---so yeah I would definitely recommend the supplement considering you can get it pretty cheap---

Is ALCAR the brand name? where can i get it? , Can it be used with NO2, & L-glutamine for a cutting cycle??

You might want to consider a prodcut called BodyOctane. It has Citrulline Malate which is supposed to enhance stamina and boost NO production better than Arginine and it also contains L-Carnitine-L-Tartrate and Carnosine boosters...it looks interesting and the doses are solid. I may give it a try and let you all know how it goes.
