KRAV MAGA vs MUY THAI

I'm 21 ya 190lbs and new to martial arts... a nearby gym offers both of these.

In terms of making the individual a better street fighter what do you recommend? Matching these two styles together who would win?

Since I'm new, not very flexible, and have some packed on muscle from weightlifting, which of these are recommended for me?? Thanks guys

Go muay thai bro. Krav maga is more of an art than a sport and from what I hear takes a very very long time to pick up. If you just want to learn to fight I'd say muay thai is the best thing you can learn as far as stand up goes.

If you can, take both. I'm no MMA student myself (yet), but I would think having a better arsenal of experience would be your best bet.

Though I've heard Systema & Krav Maga are good for "street fighting" and the like. You sound like me - wanting to learn so you can street fight better. Not to be the aggressor, but because the most likely place you'll get into a fight will be on the street somewhere, and the place you want to be able to protect yourself most is where anything goes. An alley, a parking lot behind a club or mall, or if you get jumped by a group of guys when you're with your girl.

Then again, carry a gun.

Or a sword. That would be bad ass.

Muai Thai and Brasilian Jiu Jitsu are two complementary arts and will round out most fighters better than most systems.

Muai Thai - works kicks, knees, punches and elbows from close distance and in the clinch.

BJJ - works submission wrestling techniques and joint locks/chokes to dominate if on the ground.

A gun is always my first choice but cops are such pains in the asses when you shoot people. Better to just knock your opponent out and get the F outta there ASAP.

Don't knock him too hard - get your ass sued if there are witnesses or you're in a place where you're known.

Laws suck.

It depends on the level of perceived threat. The law looks at many factors involved. If you learn your laws you wont be shafted. Just learn what is "assault, self-defence" and "The use of force" in your country/state.

I havent been convicted since knowing them. its like all rules, know them to alter the situation into the position you need, then act.
