Know anyone with Colitis?

Delinquent

Well-known member
My cousin was diagnosed with it and he had a pretty bad flare up a few days ago. I guess he's lost like 25lbs from where, I don't know considering he was skinny as hell already. Does anyone know someone with this disease and how often the flare ups occur?

My cousin has it.. she's only been in the hospital for a flare up once in the past, but I think alcohol & stress will cause it... (flare ups)

I have crohns disease. (same thing just worse) I have been in remission for yrs thanks to change in diet, stress, etc. I am very lucky.. Let me know any questions... I can help

What is a "flare up" and what does it do?

someone on the steroid board had this.. he lost 30lbs from what i remember reading.. i don't remember his name though maybe he'll run into this post and post his experience.. sorry to hear that sir :worried:

Flare ups can just be mucusy diarrhea....to severe diarrhea with blood. (not fun) I pretty much had the later throught my entire time at college and a yr or two after I graduated. I was terrible. I was somewhere under 130 lbs??at times. But, the medicine I took to keep me from wasting away made me bloated. (especially in the face)

And, you thought Flexygel had a tough time getting girls.lol

Yeah, this man knows what hes talkin bout
Just stay on a diet and do what your dr says and stay out of stressful situation
and that will help alot
flare ups suck too
cuz u can easily get addicted to pain meds because the pain is soo excruciating you just want to roll up and die
but when ur not having a flare up....life is normal

Actually, I might start playing up having a severe flair up....Then, getting some sympathy sex

I was diagnosed with collagenous colitis in 1988. Untreated, I had daily bouts of explosive mucusy diarrhea. My doctor said there was no treatment and all that could be done was to treat the symptoms. So I chewed Mitrolan tablets every day for four years.

Then I got a spider bite on my arm which led to a swollen lymph node under my armpit, and was given a course of antibiotics. Not only did the swelling go away, but so did all the symptoms of the colitis and I've been symptom free since 1992. I called my gastrointerologist and he didn't want to hear it, he simply refused to believe me.

I didn't feel so lucky for those four years where I learned that no service station men's room is gross enough to stop you if you're desperate enough.
