ok my last couple of sqaut sessions my knees are clicking like there is no tomorrow. I have had some serious pain as of late even going light. I think it could be the increased cardio. Anyways I need some advice what is going to be something that is low impact but still hit the quads decently.

No advice for ya. I feel for ya. I've been having crunching almost stiff knee issues in my left knee since I've started squating. No matter heavy or light. The bicycle almost killed me today. I hope someone comes along with a decent suggestion for ya.

:worried:

I threw my left knee out in a spinning class...

Is the pain above, to the side or below or behind the kneecap?? Is the cartilege behind the kneecap crunching?? Or is it the muscles alongside the knee that hurt??

bones are rubbing together in the joint on top the knee

Nooooo, he didn't tell me that.... LOL...... did some xrays & whatever I did that made it hurt, I didn't do.... Since my problem was that my kneecap wasn't tracking properly, I wore a type of velcro band around me knee that prevented my kneecap from moving improperly.... You could try that & see if it helps....they're pretty inexpensive...

What kind of cardio are you doing? If it involves running.... If you don't have the right shoe and are running on a hard aggregate surface then you could be ruining your knees. Are you taking and joint support formuls? If not I would suggest getting yourself some. Also the seated leg extension helps to strengthen your quad and the muscles around your knee to help it and support it.

Mostly eleptical also do some strip tease arobics but it is way low impact. I rarely run or jog when I do mad shin splints and knee pain.

What brand elliptical?

That could be a culprit. Unless it is a Precor Elliptical, the motion is NOT turely an elliptical motion. Precor owns the "rights" to the elliptical motion. Since you are moving in a set plane, if it is a poorly designed machine, then you are getting a TON of pressure on the knee.

For example, LifeFitness Elliptical / Crosstrainer - if I do this more than 1x a week, I will get mad knee pain. The motion is not well designed.

The others, lesser known brands, well, they are likely shit. My hubby has sold exercise equipment (pretty much all brands) for many years. The only elliptical he would bring home is the Precor - the rest he wouldn't take for free.

If you ARE doing the Precor, then I would lower the ramp (incline), as that also contributes to knee pain in many.

Women's knees track differently also from men's -- women are more "knock-kneed" due to how our hips are structured..... I make sure I pay close attn. to my knee placement when doing anything -- make sure they track straight....
