Knee Injuries

Who here has had problems with em? I havn't got a severe injury (just some pain in the joint when i put pressure on my left knee e.g lunges) but i'm concerned in case i really mess it up. I do some form of exercise every day which doesn't help it.

Tell me your experiences of knee problems...did you need surgery or could you manage the problem without it?

Tore cartilage in my left knee multiple times, had surgery years back. It will be a bitch forever. The end

How did you tear it? Could it have been prevented? How come surgery didn't fix it?

I'm lying in bed right now with ice on my knee and waiting for the swelling from the surgery to go down. Trust me it suck way worse that I expected but I only can hope it is the path to recovery.

I chipped my patella and has a patella release to adjust my ligaments and re align my patella. I won't be doing squats for at least 3 months.

Football. Got hit from the side as I planted my left foot, knee gave way before the ground did. Surgery didn't fix shit, all that was for is removing the tore cartilage.

I sublexed mine in a dance rehearsal a few years ago. Luckily I didnt tear anything. I just had to have PT for a couple of months.
It hasn't given me too many problems since. But when I get really tired of overtrain it gets kind of weird.

the articular cartilage in both of my knees is pretty much gone. . .also missing from the backs of my knee caps. . .pretty painful most of the time. . .i get twice annual injections of supartz and i wear a bionicare device on both of my knees while i sleep. . .it's helped a lot. . .but it's only a matter of time before they both need replaced.

in my case, it's a matter of bad genes, contact sports (football and rugby), running, mogul bashing, motocross. . .and squatting 500+ pounds probably didn't help a whole lot.

i get by, but i ain't what i used to be.

I thought having stong muscles in the legs was supposed to prevent cartilage injuries.

it does. . .but articular cartilage is the stuff that covers the bones (not the cushiony stuff within the joint. . .i still have a fair amount of that). . .i have degenerative joint disease (djd). . .i.e., arthritis. . .in both knees. . .pretty bad. . .

I meant to ask you how that turned out. I didn't know you pain until now, it really sucks. For the first time in my life I feel old.

Wait till it rains....

Had an issue with my hamstring a few months back (tendonitis) & the Dr. told me that my knee would never be the same again & it's not.....it's not so much pain, but it's just not "right" and it feels unstable a lot....but it is sensitive - so my knees get overtrained quickly.....
