Kimbo Slice v Brock Lesnar

Scheduled for August 31st.

Ok, I'm lying...but if the fight did take place who do you think would win it? I say Kimbo for far superior boxing skill and he's showin to be ok with his ground game so far too. Although Brock might overpower him.

fuck that was annoying...you got me there for a second.

What's the big deal about kimbo. So he's a beast, but he got his fame by kickin ass in street fights. big deal. He's going to find a few of these guys can really fight, and he's gonna get his ass kicked hardcore.

big deal? umm...yes, street fights are a big deal. Care knuckles, no gloves for padding, no holds barred, everything goes...you need nuts for that shit! no referee to stop you from getting hit to death...it is a very big deal believe me.

Street fighting is barbaric i guess it what i was trying to say. Not that the UFC fighters are all so aristocratic themselves, but I find street fighting to be a low down dirty thing. If you want to fight, get in the ring/octagon. Don't get in a group in the alley or backyard and just start having beat down fests. It just seems so low class or ghetto to do that, IMO. Even having boxing parties where people box with gloves at a friends house is cool with me, but the street fighting? nah. I find fighting isn't a good thing in any context, but if you're going to do it, have some rules so someone doesn't die.

one question:

Are they BOTH on the same payroll? Paid by the same people who benefit if Kimbo wins? Is it sanctioned?

Nuff said. You can fill in the rest.

Kimbo is not a streetfighter, he is a backyard boxing champ. There were tons of rules enforced in his backyard boxing matches like no clinching, no grappling, no groin shots, and no striking downed opponents. I never saw any knees or elbows thrown and only a rare kick in the 10 or so backyard matches I've seen. I would say backyard boxing has more combat limiting rules than most MMA organizations.

I would bet on Lesnar in MMA format rules.

I'd take Lesnar....Kimbo would get double-legged in the first 3 seconds and then pounded out. I don't know of too many guys who Brock can't impose his will on with takedowns.

I'd take Brock Lestner as well...he's huge, but can he take hits? Kimbo takes a hit to the chin and smiles.

But can kimbo get his shots? That's the problem with fighting a guy like Lesnar........you can't go forward/backward on him, you have to move laterally EXCEPTIONALLY well. Lesnar puts his head down, he's going to rumble through anything kimbo throws at him. Sprawling a lesnar double take down is pointless because in MMA you can't hit to the back of the head or twist/crank the head, which is the way you beat someone like that on the street. If lesnar lunges you HAVE to get off to the side and punch or kick him somewhere memorable. I don't know if Kimbo has that kind of movement. If you're going to go toe to toe with lesnar and stand him up, you'd better have some serious clinch boxing or muay thai knees on tap.......or he's going to give you a belly to belly slam. I have no doubt though that Kimbo could KO lesnar if he catches him.......he just has to put himself in the right spots to do it.

Or just pay off Lesnar to take a fall. Much cheaper and you still retain your cash cow fighter. Zuffa guys in Vegas are very suspect. Remember, "sports ENTERTAINMENT". :)

I'll give the zuffa's and dana credit......I've yet to see anything in the UFC that could remotely be accused of a "fix". They are at the top of the game........and could be unseated if something were to come out about a fix. Small time promotions however, you're right, Kimbo is the only reason anyone is paying attention to elitexc right now.........so I can easily see them resorting to this shit. UFC just stands too much to lose. They are ROLLING in it right now.

Is there any chance of Kimbo being signed by UFC? I'd like to see him fight better fighters. Ican imagine him knocking Lesnar out.

There's a zillion threads about fixing and fighting leagues on all those fighting forums. I'd post links, but i'll let the people there post up the arguments. Just not my forte.

Judging by each guys prior performances, I would say we would have a boring fight where Lesnar keeps taking Kimbo down yet is unable to do anything to finish Kimbo. Lesnar is essentially Dan Severn version 2.0 at this stage of his MMA development. Kimbo is Tank Abbott version 2.0. See Dan Severn v. Tank Abbott to get an idea of how this fight might play out.
