kettle bell throws?

YES!!! i have one, i used it for a while, i use it when i cant make it to the gym. It actually helped my squat and deadlift. It gave me one hell of an aerobic workout too. If you have one, use it as a supplement to you routine. It will help. If you need a routine i might be able to get one for you.
 
Can you say "stabalization?"

Throwing heavy objects will cause you to hurt in places you never knew you had. Plus, done properly, you can really strengthen the upper back.

And no, I do not do them often, but then I still throw the hammer twice a week, plus other throwing crap that I do when coaching.

And it still hurts.

Amen..the intense work we do in strongman (quick, fast, heavy movements) can really make you sore in strange places.
