Ketotifen - what you need to know!

ARNOLD, this one is a loss to me. It seems that FONZ has fucked up (nothing wrong with this, happens to the best of us). If I am incorrect, then hopefully FONZ will have some references to this, and I will learn something new, but here is my reasoning:

Cimetidine is an H2 antagonist, which blocks gastric secretions in the GI, while Ketotifen is a strange drug, but it acts mostly through H1 receptors, which are involved in your common allergenic reactions. Ketotifen is related to cyproheptadine and pizotifen, which both are anti-histamines with appetite increasing properties. For a long time now, the latter two drugs have actually been used as appetite stimulating medications.

Ketotifen HAS been shown to increase beta receptor concentrations and reduce Tumor Necrosis Factor, but Cimetidine (or even Ranitidine, Famotidine, etc.) have not. Cimetidine and Ranitidine HAVE been shown to decrease appetite slightly when taken throughout the day.

Cimetidine can cause gyno, since it is an AR antagonist. This is a property of Cimetidine, and has not been shown in the other H2 blockers, such as Ranitidine, Nizatidine, etc. and is most likely due to the extra ring structure that is present only on Cimetidine.

Damn you cimetidine!!!! So cockdezl, you think there is any use for it if used with anti estrogens? Proviron perhaps?

I would assume that any of the anti-estrogens would block this effect. What is interesting about this effect, is that it occurs with normal levels of estrogen, not elevated levels or through a direct effect on the ER. This supports the idea that testosterone has various indirect counter-regulatory effects on estrogen's actions under normal conditions.

Hmmmmm.. I was under the impression that cimetidine was
a DUAL histamine antagonist(H2 and H1),and gave you some
of the results ketotifen did except you'd have to combat
the anti-T action with an anti-aromatase.

Godspeed
