So, last week I did my first 3-hour training session with Eddie, the Albanian motorcycle wonder kid. Got used to being on the bike, worked a little on braking, drove around in circles a lot, worked on moving from a stopped position (all on a Ninja 250)
We typically use a huge near-empty parking lot in Forest Park, Queens. Unfortunately, since it snowed last week, the lot was covered (never plowed). So, Eddie decides to take me to a parking lot by Home Depot / Sports Authority. Noon on a Saturday - yeah, not too many people there, guy. Drove around in circles again practicing stopping and then going. There were about 6000000 million people there, so I had to deal with cars and humans for the first time ever. = nerve racking. We eventually got kicked out of the parking lot by a douche employee. Then I did some circles around the Home Depot lot, dealing with cars again.
Then we hit the roads. Pants ready to be shat? YES!
We were supposed to just go on "quiet roads". Well, there aren't many quiet roads in this area of Queens. Dealt with a lot of stop signs and red lights, some pedestrians. Lots of cars honking at me from behind cause it took me 3 minutes to get going from a red light, lol.
Then we get lost and end up on fucking Queens Blvd. On a Saturday afternoon. Great! Lots of people and red lights and cars and intersections. Did pretty good. Paniced at one red light cause I had taxi next to me, cars behind me, was trying to take a right, and a million pedestrians. But other than that, did pretty good.
Taking another 3 hours next week
