I actually like the karma thing, it's entertaining, the 'gimme karma' posts will die down soon enough.
 
I think it's because it's something new were all playing with it and hoping we'll get something good out of it. Eventually it will calm down but I do expect it to be bad for a week or so...lot's of people not here today that will get excited when they learn of this new karma stuff.
 
I don't think it's slashcode-style karma guys....meaning it's not a way to moderate anything. Just another way to suck up or piss off people without actually affecting anything.

Here's some karma for ya frackal. I don't think its such a bad thing, just something new for us to play with, most of the bullshit stuff will die down soon enough anyway.
 
no. it may make the board censored on one level or another. strongchick has negative karma for being intelligent & unbiased. i'll probalby get negative karma for standing up for her rights to an opinion. elite may become a spiral of identical opinions carried out by a de-facto gang of 'negative/positive karma givers' boosting up or shutting down anyone who doesn't have the same opinions they do.
 
Well after reading the announcement, I am now convinced that this is the dumbest shit I have yet to see. This just like the number of stars deal will never work. We have people who who beg for karma points and just give them out for whatever stupid reason. You will still never know who posts quality information and who does not. Like always, you know who to trust and should take all advice as jsut what it is, "advice".

But yea, it will make *some* of the posters on this site happy that they are popular on an internet chat board.

Plus you can now get kicked off from this dumb shit. How pointless is that?

It gives people the power to kick those they do not like off the board. It will be dead within two months. Well, I hope so anyway.
