Karma: Reverse of Desired Effect?

George's intent for karma:

"This new Karma system allows new users to quickly see the resident gurus and idiots. It allows anyone to sort the signal from noise by checking the member's karma. And, it will also encourage more thoughtful posts from members as the karma points serve as a reward for helping others."

Just goes that it is hard to predict human nature and ingenuity. The karma system has already been thwarted due to organizations like KWA and K.R.A.P. Karma "swap threads" have emerged instead of the anticipated rush of thoughtful posts.

I think members will continue to make thoughtful posts, but not because of karma.
 
The only thing it does is make some people feel like they are actually important.

There will be plenty of idiots on this board who have tons of karma.
 
Certainly not the reverse effect.
but it will serve more of a democratic view of things. People who have lots of karma are probably those who have asked for lots of it, or passed lots of it out.
 
No job yet but I have gone on one interview for a job I would love to nail.....ahhhhh the perks. Shouldn't be hard though since I am certified in microsoft office programs.

exactly. I was on one of those swap threads. But at least those were threads where nobody insulted each other if that counts for anything.

another unforseen aspect is the alarming trend of people sending bad karma and signing with someone elses name.

You should be very marketable in the DFW area with that skill set. Plus more importantly, let's be honest, you're a hottie!
