How do I go about getting the blood work done at an HMO? If I tell them or they suspect I've using they will cancel my policy. Do I have to go to a private doctor and pay cash out of pocket? Any suggestions...anyone else have the same situation? :worried:

No, just tell them that your sex drive is down, and you need to get blood work to see if your levels are correct...I have decided after the cycle I'm on now to get a full panel done, blood pressure and all.

bump^ Anyone else with HMO experience? BTW thanks muscleup...should I walk up and tell the nurse "hi, I'm not horny." Then she said "I can fix that..." wait that's the letter I'm writting to penthouse.

It is always a good idea to call and pre-cert you benifits with your insurance company. It can save you time and hassles if you're not covered for certain procedures/tests. There are many insurance companies that will not cover HRT or certain prescriptions, such as viagra, etc. If you know your insurance will not cover HRt screening in advance and have a good relationship with your provider, he may use a similar CPT code for billing purposes that your insurance will cover. Just my .02.

I used to go to Kaiser too. I just requested a full physical including blood tests, test levels checked, etc. For some of the more specific tests you will need to specify each individually. I just told them I read testosterone levels drop at a certain age and I wanted to see where I stood. I had no problems.
