I just got a call from HR from my new employer telling me to call the lab that took my drug screening last week........I tested positive for diazpam(valium). I was told it would only show up on a drug screening for 3 days!!! I took the test after 5!!!!! What the heck am I going to do? Is diazpam(valium) "illegal" or a prescription drug?

Is there any way out after I denied knowing anything about this???????????
 
1) Start researching diazpam and prey you can find an over-the-counter product that contains it.

or

2) If you can't find anything "legal" that contains diazpam, then ask to be retested. Maybe the stuff will pass through your sytem before it can be detected again.

If both 1 and 2 fail, then start polishing your resume or get a laywer.
 
Diazepam is legal if you have a perscription. It is used for maily for anxiety disorders.
Diazepam takes btwn 2-4 weeks before it leaves your body.
 
Tell them "it wasn't me" they have made a mistake.

I really don't know how long the detection time is but if they re-test you now they may not catch it.

I have benefitted many times from the total denial technique. But once you admit to it you cannott go back.

There is no over the counter drug that contains diazepam...period. Also, don't tell
them you didn't know it was in your body. Just say that you thought it was fine because
you take it occaisionally for anxiety and you have a doctor's perscription for it.
 
as far as I know valium are not illegal but hard to get.... you could probably get a script but how ? thats the question. .... Deny it humm dont think its the best attitude. Find any excuses, be imaginative lol but without a script I dont know how your employer will believe you.

By the way why is he performing those tests on you ? Does your job require this ? This point was recently put in front of a court of law here in Montreal. Might be a legal option... I'm a bar member but not an expert on freedom and rights questions...

It is a highly regulated perscription drug. There is nothing over the counter containing it . A little extra bodyfat as well as dosage may effect drug clearence time.

How often do you think stuff gets into our system when we don't know. Someone could of dropped it in your drink.

You could also tell them that a family member has it from a prescription and you sometimes take it for anxiety (incase they ask to talk to your doctor about it). Lie, lie, lie. IMO, the more you know about valium and your situation the better bet you have of getting away with your lies. Good luck.
 
there may be other drugs that can cause a false positive test. you can use androstenedione which is OTC and you may test positive for nandrolone.
 
you had to have been told y ou were having a drug screen and gave them a urine specimen...valium (diazepam) is a controlled drug requiring a prescription from a doctor....usually when you test positive the lab does a verification test to make sure its not a false positive....you have to tell HR why and where u took the valium and go from there
 
Get them to retest you and go to the health food store and get some ready clean I have passed two tests with it.
 
Odds are fairly strong your employer will not retest you. A retest only proves that you are clean today, it does not make your last test inaccurate. Quite simply they do not have to. I am not positive on the type of tox screens typically done by employers. However, since it is not illegal occaisional use for mild anxiety might be your safest bet. "I thought you meant illegal drugs......" Stupidity might work as your best defense.
 
I just got off the phone with them. I had 2 options...................admit that I took it , and produce a prescription(can't). Pay $200.00 for an EXTENSIVE drug screening.........(I'm on A.S....................)

I told the lab that I didn't even know what diazpam was, and then they said it was a "benzo" and I said I didn't know what "that" was.........I'm all out of lies...................I guess I received some false advice in the first place. I was told by someone(on this board who does drug screenings) that it would only be in my system for 3 days.

You know what,..........It's still my fault for taking Val in the first place. I have noone to blame but myself. I should have just found another way to sleep.

Tell them that you don't have a clue wtf they are talking about. And if they want a test they will have to pay for it. If it is really serios call a lawyer.

I don't think any of us are lawyers and are probably not the best ones to get advice from.


HTF do they expect you to pay $200. I would do everything you would normally do if you did not take it. Think if it was like that.

Whoever told you that valium only stays in your system for 3 days is definitely full of shit. Depending on how often you take it and the amount you take, it could stay in your system for over a month. Valium is one of those drugs that takes a long time for the body to get rid of. I really don't know what to tell you about your situation now. Maybe you can try to B.S. your way into getting them to retest you.

So go to a doc, tell him you're totally fucking freaked out over a breakup with a chick who said she was pregnant then ...ummmm... then got the money from her new boyfriend who happens to be.. ummm. your brother to get and abortion. Tell him you are a nervous wreck by the end of the day and have had a few anxiety attacks. Then ask him for at least a month's prescription's worth..... Or tell him your wife ran off with your girlfriend. hee hee..
 
Don't waste your money on a lawyer. None with half a brain would take it on a contigency. Based on the fact that the test was positive, you have no legal footing to contest anything anway; provided: you are not under contract, or in an at-will employment state and you knew that you were going to be tested when you were hired. In other words you're fucked. Legally speaking of course. If you want more info e-mail or pm me.

Has anyone actually "successfully" passed a drug test using something OTC, even when they had recently used an illegal drug?
 
Isnt there a law in the US that if you're out of the country and purchase some drugs, you're allowed to bring a personal amount back?

Maybe you can say you were in Mexico and bought some anxiety pills at the local pharm, but didnt know it was Valium.

Tell them you just had some dental work done and that he prescribed some.

My dentist gives me valium for every visit.
 
All benzodiazepines are prescription drugs. (valium, versed, ativan, xanax, restoril..etc.) Someone gave you some horrible info. Not much you can do now.. that sux. No doctor in their right mind would write you a bogus script...I sure as hell would not jeapordize my license behind that. I hope every thing works out 4 ya bro.
 
Sureshot33, although I don't do employment law, I can do some legal research for you. Just e-mail me and let me know where you live. If you live outside of the U.S., I don't think that I could give any competent advice.
 
HEY BRO THEY USUALLY DO A SAP 6 BENZO, BARBS ,COKE ,AMPHS, TSH AND I CAN'T REMEMBER #6 BUT THATS USUALLY WHAT THEY DO CAUSE I HAVE DONE SEVERAL OF THEM, AND YES I CAN'T REMEMBER #6 SORRY LOL BUT IF THEY WANT YOU TO DO ANOTHER TAKE IT. THEY ARE PROBALY LOOKING FOR ILLEGAL NOT AS BECAUSE IT'S S O EXPENSIVE TO TEST FOR AS, MAYBE YOU CAN GET BY, HOPE THIS HELPS LATER:mix:
 
Thanks guys for all your advice/help, but there's nothing left to do. I'm just wondering; say I get another job in a couple of weeks, is there a way to be sure I pass the test? I don't do any recreation drugs, aside of my short stint with Valium.
 
Valium has a 60 hour half-life, which means that 1/2 of the drug is still in your blood 60 hours post-dose.
I would think that you would be clear after a couple of weeks.

What about the other week when you went out with your mates and that guy that was checking you out spiked your drink and we all had to save your arse!

tell your employer that your old grandmother gave you a valium instead of an aspirin. say shes old and got the too mixed up. or say you pulled a muscle in your back from lifting weights and the doctor gave you some valium a year ago. you had some left over from your prescription and you took one cause your back was acting up!!:D
 
OK,......let's clear this up........my start date was July 9th................I failed the drug test, so I did not get the job, after I was hired..........

I am clean now,.....but if I have another drug test in the next week or two,........I will come up positive again.

How can I avoid this?
 
Sureshot, I give a drug test every week. I believe benzos are 10-14 days. Dont lie, thats the worst you can do. Tell them you were having trouble sleeping and whoever gave you one to help. You didn't know it was a prescription med. Offer to give weekly urines for the next 6 months or so. Good luck.
 
My elbow was hurting bad everytime I worked out so I went to the doctor. He wanted a urine sample. I had just urinated right before he saw me so I couldnt go. I took the bottle home and started thinking, "How in the hell is a urine sample going to tell him anything about my elbow?" So now I'm pissed off and get my dog to piss in the bottle, my sister pissed in the bottle and I jacked off in it. I brought it to the doc. 3 days later he calls me and says "Your dog has rabies, your sister has VD and if you don't stop jacking off, your elbow will never stop hurting." So I say this to you sureshot, if they want to retest, bring your own sample in a balloon and tape it under your armpit to keep it warm. Put all kinds of shit in it. You wont get hired now anyway, so fuck with 'em.
 
This is a long long long shot BUT there is a herbal supplement called Valerian which I believe is synthisized to form part of the active ingredient of most benzo's. Claim you use this, it is legal here from most herb shops. Furthermore it (allegedly) has sedating propertys although I have not found this to be the case.

This is disgusting but there is a catheterisation technique that involves filling the bladder with uncontaminated urine prior to testing...

I just had my eyes fixed using lasix surgeory. Before the procedure the doctor gave me and the 8 other people about to have the surgeory valiums to relax us. This is not bs this is true. If i were you i would tell the doctor you had lasix eye surgeory within the past 2 months and the eye surgeon gave you valium before the surgeory. If he asks for the doctors name I would find some out of business eyecare facility and say it was them. This has to work. IF i had been tested in that month i would have been positive for valium and i would have raised HELL. RAISE HELL and tell them you cant do anything about it cause the company is out of business. Tell them oyu only took one pill. also dont wear glasses ! :)
 
OK now I had a similar situation, luckily I live in CA so I drove down to Ensenada and go a script and paid extra for the Doctor to Back Date it. Worked like a charm, you are allowed to bring back a 90 day supply of valium with a prescription and I even claimed it at customs. However this was 3.5 years ago and the law may have changed. The only reason I went to Ensenada is because I have friends their. Good Luck and PM me if you need more info..

I already lost the job, end of story. When they called me the other day, I had to respond immediately, that's why I said I didn't know anything. My to-be-manager called yesterday, and said I was unhirable because of a positive drug test result...........
 
Your better off... Fuck that employer and his bastard drug tests. The idea that you have to piss in a cup to see if your hired or not irritates the hell out of me. I'd call him up and tell what a fucking fraud he and the company he works for is. I dont use anything except for AS, I am an employer and I hate drug tests. I only makle my employees take one if i have cause to think they are using on the job.

For some reason it seems that everyone thinks that it is "OK" to drug test for employment. Its bullshit and I am personally against it if you couldnt tell. Drives me nuts how everyone is a laydown when it comes to this stuff.

I didn't read all the responses so this may be a repeat, but find out if valium can be bought over the counter in canada or some other country (maybe the Canadian bro's know), but you can tell your employer that you bought it b/c someone said it would help u sleep and you had no idea what was in it.

drug screening labs are heavily monitored for quality control to make sure their performance is accurate..they have regular on-site inspections by state and federal agencies, some unannounced and have to test unknown specimens regularly and pass or they can lose their license ...therefore, not a good idea for you to deny .. the specimens are tagged from procurement to testing to prevent mix-up...best to have a Rx and that will cover you
 
Yes, valium is illegal without a script. Do what you should have done from the start.... Go to GNC and get some cleansing tea, make a gallon of it and drink it. It works - trust me.
