just how important is diet...

One of my bros that I train with started a cycle of deca. He never eats more than twice a day, and it usually consists of mcdonald's and other fast food. I tell him that his diet is more important than chemical supplementation. He doesn't ever have big gains and he usually loses what little he gains. I was just wanting some others opinions about how important diet is and maybe some examples of good and bad progress while on gear due to diet.

60% Diet
30% Training
10% AAS

No idea where I came up with those, but it's my personal feeling

Although I'm a total novice in gear. I do know from many years of training in Judo and wrestling, when I eat sloppy I perform sloppy. When I eat clean, I perform with snap. It should be a no brainer. You are what you eat.

Diet is the most important part of the package. If his diet is lacking, his whole cycle wont produce any major results.

Diet is "KEY" my friend. Just remember garbage in= garbage out. You have to feed the machine properly not poorly.

I agree , the most anabolic substance on this planet is food

To gain and keep fat to a minimum you must eat clean, and to keep the metabolism up several servings thruout the day(yes. i said servings not meals)
and try to get at least 1 gram of protein for every lb of bodyweight

I learned the importance of diet in high school. School lunch was $1 or for that same $1 I could purchase a bag of chips and 3 2 packs of twinkies. Being the fat ass midwestern boy I was-I chose the chips/twinkies. One day I got to lunch late and the snack bar (chips/twinkies) was closed so I had to eat the nasty school lunch-a baked greasy chicken breast, green beans, and sliced pears. Anyway, I had 3x the energy that I normally did at football practice after school. I always ate the school lunch from that day on regardless of how shitty it was.

After I was an adult on the see-food diet and juicing a couple years I decided to really dial in my diet like I was supposed to. I made more gains in 3 months than I did in the 2 years before. Within a year people started asking me if I competed in BB instead of asking me if I play football (a polite way of telling me "you are a fat ass.")

With that being said, diet is equally as important as training and drug use combined.

diet is the most important!

this is the reason that people get f-ed up by using AS. they dont know what they are doing or how to use properly. your friend is one of the many guys that may have perminate sides and givs AS a bad name.

Tell him to come do some research on the board, but read the sticky for newbies before he posts anything

I would say:

50% diet
30% training
10% sleep
10% AAS

I agree diet is important, however that implies that you would make 90% of off as you would on.

I think of it as more of a house, diet being the foundation, sleep being the walls, training being the roof and AS is the mere finish work.

lol... just pulled that outta my ass... i dunno...

You could win a Pulitzer for that!!! :p

It seems like the younger you are, the more you can get away with and still make great gains. But rest assured, the ratios posted above by people who have spent vast amounts of time, effort, pain, and money are accurate. Not hitting the diet, rest, training correctly is wasting your time and effort. :rainbow:

It's all diet! Period. Without a solid diet, you'll get nothing. Without the dicipline to follow a diet, you need to give up any thought of AAS. It's about time people started to realize this. I mean who else is sick of shit like this? A solid diet is the foundation, without diet nothing else even matters. I mean fucking Mcdonalds. Give me a fuckin break! It's all diet. These are the same type of people who walk around the gym barefoot, with a fannypack on, openly talking about steroids and saying shit like this. "yeah bro, I'm getting back in the game. I USED TO BE about 220 and like 6% bf but I got sick and lost 75 lbs. Time to get back up there, I think Ill be there by summertime. You know just in time for the ladies" I don't know about anyone else, but this kind of mentality just drives me insane.

if diet was not important we would see a LOT more crackhead bodybuilders :D

to me it all matters on the individuals metabolism and genetics. i know of ppl who eat candy and junk ALL year. yet they never gain fat. there are also those health nuts who supplement and diet (eat clean) year round and never gain anything. However, use commonsence; eat better- train better YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT.

Print this whole thread and give it to your friend or bro or whoever is on the cycle and let them now that DIET is #1! You cant grow if you dont eat, AAS is not a magic solution that will blow you up while you sit on your couch and play playstation.

DIET IS EVERYTHING, its more important than the drugs. Think of it this way bro. You could have a Ferrari that is capable of going from 0-60 in 4 seconds and can do 200+ m.p.h. But without any gas or oil, its not going to do a god damn thing.
Tell your buddy to get his diet in check and watch the difference, it will be like night and day. If your friend doesn't know anything about proper nutrition, he really has no business using AAS. He also probably doesn't know anything about PCT, which is essential to keeping gains (however miniscule they may be without a good diet).
