Hey everybody. I just got my new Ivanko Super Gripper in the mail. This thing is awesome!

Anyways, I've never trained grip before, so I was curious on your opinions on the best way to do it. Should I do it with my other workouts, once per week? Twice per week?

Should I do singles or sets of 5 or 10? etc.

Thanks for the info.

Also, I was able to close it with either hand when it was set at 149 pounds. Is this good for someone who has never trained grip before?

Nice! It has adjustable settings? Got a link? :D

Yeah, Beast. I chose it over the CoC's because of its adjustable settings. I figure this way I can work my way up without have those big jumps from trainer to #1 or #2.

Maybe Debaser will post some info, or Cuthbert, or rbrown...

Kingc has one too...

I haven't used a SuperGripper.. but I have done a bit of training with the coc grippers.

I like doing a lot of negatives, etc. and timed holds with lighter grippers.

I think the ROM of the SuperGripper is significantly less than that of a coc... so negatives might not be as effective as on the coc.

I don't think that repping out lighter grippers will help you close a stronger one.. I've never really trained like that and I haven't had much trouble progressing. Some people do though.. so I don't know for sure.

Just stick with it... it'll be hard to get bored with that one I think. Progression will be a lot easier.

I really support the KTA program. I won't give the routine since it wouldn't be fair to the creators (the e-book is 15-20 dollars on cyberpump). It focuses on the Ironmind grippers but could easily be adapted. I will say that there is a lot of focus on singles, negatives, and lots of frequency.

KTA is good if you can adapt it to the supergripper. The principles behind it seem very solid; If you are doing a lot of other grip work it might be too much though.
