Got a new Tanita scale first off anyone have them and if so how accurate do you say they are? I just got done with my bulking cycle weigh 220, with a 23 percent body fat. I'm 6'3. Starting my cutting diet after Febraury.

I got my bodyfat tested before my bulk diet and it was at 15% either this scale is wrong or my body fat went up really bad! Anyone else's do this before I'm a pretty skinny guy I really wanna know if this is accurate. Is 23 really bad?

yes and no.......23 is def. on the high side.................and the tant. scales are off by a good 4-5%.........easily...............mine reads 12%......I'm about 8-9 right now.............

I bought another type of scale and I think its off aswell. I dont think these things are acurate. I just tested myself and it came back 20%, Its having a laugh.

They are not accurate....... mine tells me 35-37% most of the time, which is not even remotely close.....

I'd bet it's closer than you'd like to think........however, it def. is off..........no more than 6-7%, first thing in the am, as soon as you get up.....

It is really good for weekly measurements.............up or down %

Oh, let me clarify by saying in no way do I think you are chubby Jen, obviously never have seen you...........but, they arent ridiculosly scewed, i.e 10-15%......

what about the hand gripper bf testers? The ones that you have to hold out in front of your chest? Are they accurate? What should a person who lifts 3-4x/week w/ cardio about every day set their activity level to? (low, normal, athelete)

guess i'm just gonna use it to measure how much i lose or gain percentage wise i wish the damn thing worked but oh well. thnx for the answers.

Well the 35-37% is first thing in the morning -- in the afternoon it registers much, much lower -- 11-15% lower.....

I think (personally) I'm around 20-24% bf.... And lots of people around here have seen my pics, don't know how you missed them....

And the ones you stand on only measure your lower body, not the entire body....

Here's my back at least.....

It's good to stack the sunday paper on.

I'm begginning to think your right, it went down 3 percent in a half an hour then 10 minutes later went back up it keeps doing this every time i weigh myself. At least the weight is correct.

I use my scale only to see my progress... In other words... what the scale says today is really not important, but the readings over a period of weeks should show a trend.

Just be sure you are consistent with the conditions in which you weight yourself...

Hey, Jkurz......... bought a set of digital bf calipers..... tried it out about 5 times or so..... got a range of 19.4% to 20.4% -- much better!! LOL
(the calipers give you a final reading after doing the pinches)

So, I don't know how accurate these are either......

I hear the calipers are as accurate as you can get when testing your own bodyfat. I have a scale and I know its off. They test by sending and measuring electrical impulses. Caliper is the way to go for self testing

My Tanita (no athlete mode) says I am 20-21%, which is probably about 5-6% off. The Omron (hand grip) in athlete mode says I am 17% - probably much closer to reality. In either case, both seem to be good for 'trends' as long as you use them at the same time in the same conditions.

I'm the same as you bro, 6'2", 220lbs as of this morning and body fat is around 21 22 %......I'm bulking up one more round before shredding down b/c I want to be huge when I lean down and keep most of my size.......Stick with it, I know it's discouraging but it's all good in the end like others have told me!

where can you get the calipers from?

I got mine from my local discount nutrition store..... they have a website, but I don't know if I can post it or not...
