just got back from the store...

i have enough food and water to last me probably 2 weeks solid.

i have a full tank and about 4 extra gallons in a can.

im boarding up the windows probably tomorrow.

i have enough bullets to last at least one small gun battle with thugs. i plan on buying some more tomorrow.

manditory evacuation at 6am for seniors and 6pm for everyone else tomorrow. and yes the mayor has plenty of buses waiting.

actually im shceduled to work so as of right now i am staying. the ol lady and kids are bailing out in the morning though. i might end up leaving thur if work tells me to.

It will probably miss you by 200 miles. Seems the ones who prepare the most wind up with the least damage.

Good luck with Rita and I hope she dies out before she gets there.

the good news is sponge that if noaa predicts a head on hit for you now, the odds of it happening are slim to none, they are never right this far out

I tried to get my avatar that big but I just kept cutting it down and was left with this one. That is when he yells, FOOD FIGHT, in the cafeteria.

yes.

we do have a levee and seawall. seawall is not much and was built first but the levee is pretty massive. im thinking its gotta be 30ft high at least. but the storm surge would work its way around and then flood us.

if a cat 4 hits galveston island, it will be gone. there will be no land visible. but i am on the mainland.

i hope your right but we are due. somehow i made a fucking huge mistake and let the insurance drop on my rent house.

Spongebob, what part of Galveston county are you in? I just moved here, to League City, from Washington State about 5 weeks ago. Nice little warm welcome :)

My boyfriend is in Knoxville right now... Better hurry and get back. I don't know anybody else here, not sure where I'll go if he can't make it home lol. Yikes :)

My boyfriend just landed an hour or so ago.. So, he'll be home now :). I guess we're not going to leave until the LAST min., depending on the strength.. I was just watching the news and I guess it's going a little further south now, but of course it seems to change every 30 min.

We're going to head up to Dallas if we have to leave.

Where are you going to go?
 
All the computer models seem to be forming up on the Brownsville Area, previous models were spread from the border up to Louisiana.

just reached cat5 status.

the town is almost dead, most people have left. i just boarded up my rent house and now im gonna board up here. plus trim all the trees i can around the house.
 
fucking cats are so stupid. the bastard was around us all morning while the family was packing and right when they hopped in the car to go we couldnt find him to put his ass in the cage. and now i havnt seen him since, dumb bastard!

Ya'll need to remember, if the storm goes south of you that could be a bad thing. The strongest part of the hurricane will be the northeast quadrant. :worried:

You can never have too many bullets, or clips especially, don't want to have to reload clips in the heat of the moment.

here is my situation i just pm'ed someone so i thiought i would share.

well most of the models have it hitting around freeport, which is just south of us. about 125mi away or less. we will get the dirty side of it. hopefully it will hit further south, if not i am screwed.

on my rent house i have no insurance, zero, nada, nothing. if it gets flooded, its my loss. if it gets demolished, i pay for a slab for the next 20yrs.

on my home i have windstorm but no flood. if it floods its my loss.

at this point i am hoping for the best or the worst. worst be total destruction so i can claim windstorm on my home and offset the loss my rent house.

i am right on the coast, well actually, galveston shields us from the gulf but that wont matter one bit, i am right on the bay between galveston and us.

a couple of projections have it hitting real close or directly. if so, galveston will no longer exist. its an island above sea level about 6ft or so i think with a 17ft seawall on the front side. nothing on the backside. with a 22ft storm surge it will be gone. literally no house standing.

i am on some of the highest ground in my town. if it hits here i will be a small island about about 40mi from any other land. thats why i didnt get flood insurance on it.

the storm surge will demolish this whole area and even up to houston. if it hits here at a 4 or 5 it will be complete devastation. houston and the surrounding areas towards the gulf total about 4mil people i think.

i was supposed to work fri but they have shut down and told me not to come in. my family left this morning. i am staying till thur evening and waiting and seeing what will develop. plus i still have a lot of boarding up to do. so im looking to get out about 24hrs before the storm hits if it does.

if it downgrades to a 3 i am staying. ive rode out a cat3 before and im not worried. i can handle 120 to 125 mi winds. ill be safe.
