Just got back from the E.R.........AGAIN!!!

WTF??? I have gotten two abcesses now in about three months. I have given myself at least 2-300 injections without a hitch. A couple of months ago, I got one from some nor.....Then two days ago, I got another one in the same delt from 500mg of omnadren. The f'ed up thing is, this is the first injection in my left delt since I got the first abcess. I figure it would be cool there because it has been a while. Sure as shit, two days pass and there is a flaming red golfball in there. Can I no longer inject in my left delt without this happening again??

it happend to me once. Let it go for a while, and it was fine. you have to feel youre body out. Why not just forget the delt all together for a while.

Here is a little medical advice. First off, your delts are really to small of a muscle group to be injecting a high volume of an oil based AS. Stick with your quads and glutes, but be sure to rotate. Secondly, did the folks in the E.R. actually tell you that you had an abcess or just a hematoma? If you had an abcess they should have drawn some blood cultures to see what you might be growing inside of your shoulder. I would imagine that they also put you on some pretty heavy antibiotics. If not they should have. Also, keep some moist heat from a heating pad on your shoulder. This will increase the blood supply to your shoulder and help you fight the infection. I had an abcess in my glute once and this really helped me.
Just remember, AS should be given DEEP into the muscle, and just because they come with a 19G dart does not mean that you have to use it. Using that large of a needle is just setting yourself up for developing a hematoma which can get infected. I use a 22G needle for all my inj. If you have any other questions feel free to email me.

Well, its saturday and my whole upper arm is on FIRE!!!
They put me on cephlaxin 500mg 4 times a day. About ten days worth. They said it was most likely start of cellulitis. They didnt want to lance it just yet....But said if got any bigger, I would need to come in and have it drained. It has gotten a little smaller, so that is good news. I still cant really move my arm an inch without alot of pain though.

They all looked at me like I was a NUT when I said what it was from. I got a lecture from the nurse in triage, and by the nurse that saw me in the room, and also buy the doctor that treated me. THey all kept saying that I better stop using them because they were suppresing my immune system..........Whatever.


I have put up to 3ccs in my shoulders many, many times. That is why my situation vexes me. I guess no more left delt injections.

i have got one of those one time from injecting fina in my bi. right bi was fine, but the left flamed up and was hurting like a bitch. i did not go to the er though, it went away by itself in about 2 weeks.

I know that this sounds like a dumb question ..buty did you wipe the injections sight down with alcoho; before you injected? Some peoples skin have a much higher bactiria count then others...perhaps you infected yourself....not the drugs? Stay on top of is ...cellulitis is the last thing you want.
