whats up guys, i know this is purely a lift, i think this forum is much more appreciative. I conquered another milestone today benchpressing 450 lbs raw, with a bodyweight of 165.0 lbs. also ahead of schedule (deadline was 2 more weeks) Although im a little sore right now, when i got up off of that bench i went nuts...

i still havent gone on my cycle yet, but when i do it'll be a numbers game

so i know im floating my own boat but let me have my 2 minutes here

I call bullshit. That would be a world record at that weight class.

Ditto, like that one soccer player that swore he could squat 600 for reps around 180 lbs

If I'm wrong I would gradly stand corrected but I don't buy that lift for a second unless he's a competing powerlifter who holds the new world record for the bench press at that weight class.

goddamn!! if the 7th picture in your profile is you; then ill believe your claim!!! hell of a gallery bro.

Well, as you can see on http://www.adfpa.com/records/ the men's collegiate US record at 165lbs is
Bench Press J. HIXON 432.00lbs set Mar-01
And the US open record is
Bench Press L. KIRCHNER 501.50lbs set Nov-03

So don't laugh people, if his form is correct, our boy is setting US records in his basement! And he's hot on the heels of Kirchner . . . especially when he hits that cycle . . .

Those records are for people wearing support shirts, which can add 10-20% to a lift. Vectork39 said his lift was raw, which means he would absolutley obliterate the records you mention.

http://www.adfpa.com/newsletter/ranking/2003/men_bench_all.html

These are record holders for the bench press in the 165LBS weight class. As you can see, we have a world champion powerlifter on the board!!!

so vecktor, I'm interested. may you have been mistaken about the amount of weight on the bar? or do we have a new world record on our hands...? your comments please

am I reading these stats correctly? is the weight class the top number and then the competitors names listed with their lifts accross from their names? if so, in the 220lb class Mark Hufnagel record is 435lbs? oh, just saw the "Junior" at the top. what age falls under junior catagory.

Yes everyone those are the equipment US records which our boy claims to have broke raw. I quoted the collegiate and open records assuming our guy is somewhere between 20-35 years old. Yes the juniors and women of course lift less. So the point was . . . an unknown poster breaks a US powerlifting record that's been held for three years at his local Bally's . . . Quite impressive don't you think . . . or bullshit hmmmmmmmmmmm The most likely explanation (excepting outright bullshit) is that he did it, and is strong, but with illegitimate form, and his real bench is in the 300s . . . That's my best guess or just plain bullshit.

He's been posting quite impressive numbers in the bench. I won't say it's impossible, but until you do it in a meet keep it to yourself. You won't be believed, and for good reason.

benchnov.jpg

alright i know you have a hard time believing it, and yes i never claimed it was in a meet....you know what i would take a few pounds off if it were a meet, im not that conceited but i was able to get it up without a problem...try this pic it was in november at a local bench press competition, i weighed 165 and i still do weigh that much, but to prove it i will gather some pics, theres one of me putting up 435, then my body weight on my home scale,

no one took a pic of the 450 but nex time (3 or 4 more days) i'll hopefully put it up again and show u guys, and the scale is with clothes on as well

vecktor dude hit it up fullsize- go to your gallery- click on the pic (so you see it fullsize) then right click on it, go to properties- highlight the location and copy (ctrl-c) then past the location with the IMG in the post.....

Nobody who could bench 450 would wear those socks. :)

i just dont get how u can have that much muscle and strenght at that weight. muscle weights so mush. i bench about 380 and im freaking 230
i feel like a big bafoon
my first thought was bullshit

since i wrestle quite a bit, i keep my body weight down below "normal" level although right now im not cutting im actually bulking up. its really hard for me to gain weight and get past 165 lbs, since im only 5'7 tops, another reason i dont weight that much is because my legs arent very bulky since its hard to maintain flexibility and ride legs when they are tree trunks.

this kid i wrestled with in high school pushed 300+ like it was cake and he weight 130lbs at the time. The kid was so strong it was sick. He was 112-0 throughout his high school career. He was also insane, a nutcase, and I couldn't stand the mother fucker...

but i'll beleive this guy cuz i know how wrestlers are

What I see there is an assisted overload.

An assisted overload is when you stack on more weight than you can do and bring it down slowly and have the spotter yank it off you chest.

terrible form for a strong bench. I'm impressed becuase if you had good form you'd be doing like 500. I say this becuase the bar is far to close to th neck. It should be at the top of the abbs, elbows tucked..

im tellin you its a horrible camera angle, but its not that far up, and if you think its a negative, i'll get some more pics... jsut wait, call my bluff, go ahead, im not here to lie and decieve you guys, infact i despise those that do, but when i get more pics you can see for yourself

and if it were a negative, there would be a spotter with his hands over the bar, not one behind the bar, this guy is there to see if it goes down all the way, once he gives the clap i put it back up, i know it doesnt look pretty, and no i dont have textbook form, but #1 its a weird angle, the bar is not sitting on my chin, and #2 i wouldnt go through all this shit to bs you, i hit a personal record for my gym lift, and your right its probably a few pounds less in a meet, but by me the meets are few and far between. I havent the opportunity to travel all over the place in a federation, since im a full time college student, and work over 30 hours. any other questions you'd like answered go ahead im all ears, i have nothing to hide for you guys, im only here to learn not talk shit

if it is not a negative, then props to you. I know you must train hard. I did to reach 430 at 198. To reach the weight you just did, that is incredible

i dont want to sound like a dick, believe me i'm the worlds biggest skeptic, if theres anyway i can get a vid i will, i only have a shitty olympus camera, and thats the best i can do for right now, i'll keep you updated

Guys you're being way too hard. I'm not trying rag on some of you but you really need to stop by a bench meet once in awhile. All most of you know about lifting is what you see in your gym for the most part, maybe one or two strong guys. Go to a meet were all the eagles land and you'll see things you didn't think possible.

My suggestion to Vector to do it in a meet was for the purpose of opening a can of told you so to the disbelievers.

Maybe you're right. It just seemed hard to believe that he benched 450lbs "raw" with no shirt weighing only 165lbs. With a shirt he would be the world record holder for that weight class. How can you expect people not to doubt that?

You don't have to pause doing the lift in a gym so that alone might add 30 lbs to a lift. Still seems high for a raw lift but I believe in UFO's so maybe...

I dont see how you guys are reaching all this weight on bench, when people ask me what i bench,i start talking about my squat.......more power to you.

I cannot get all the pic to load and the ones that do, I can't tell how much weight is on the bar - plus its not video. I can lie there with 600lbs on the bar and make a face like I'm taking a big shit and snap a pic. - a new world record!

hey but if i'm wrong - props to you.

oh, and could someone tell me what age group falls under the Junior catagory in this case.

20-23

man...if its true you are the shit!!! and i dont think anyone would go through that much trouble to lie....so congrats.....im very weak at bench (genetics) im 220 and im imbaressed to say i only get 265 up:(. i know i have decent strength cause i can shoulder press 205..if any of you have advise on how to get stronger in bench please let me know...pm me or somthing.,, any form advise would be helpful....i do a ton of dips too

so, if I'm reading the results correct, the USA power lifting record for junior at 220lbs is 435lbs set by Mark Hufnagel? 3rd is only 369. do these lifts seem extemly low to anyone else? I mean they are good lifts but not what I would qualify as records. I put up 415lbs and im 217lbs. and I know I could bring my weight down if I started eating correctly. I know I'm not the only one here that can put up more than 400lbs. and who is under 23. anyone got a link to the Canadian site. I bet the record there is even less.

"Men's Open Bench Press Only Top 20 List for 2003"
Read "2003" these are not world records. These are just the best benches in that federation for the year of 03.

I have a friend at 180 does 600 with a shirt. Took second at the Arnold. Last years.

I knew were not talking world record but I did think they were U.S. records. I guess I was getting a bit excited when I started to think I had a chance of putting my name in the books. thanks for shattering my dreams. so where are all the big lifts? guess the super juicers wait till later in the year.

jeezus....as if i didn't feel bad enough about my shitty bench.......damn you short guys!!

*shakes fist in the air*

Yes.

US records for the year 2003. Doesn't mean someone on 1/2/04 doubled the guy in the 148 class. It's just for that year. Not every powerlifter competes every year.

I used to powerlift. Powerlifting USA prints this sort of thing out every issue for different weight classes.
