Judo

I've always wanted to learn this form of marital arts, especially the choke holds and take down aspects of it. Is anyone here familiar with Judo, and its level of difficulty to learn compared to other forms of marital arts, like karate, etc?

Just make sure you find a judo instructor that teaches the art for practical application, NOT for sport. Many judo stylists learn to fight within their art and waste time playing off clothing and such. Judo has some good weapons, but remember that its very much a specialized art, so don't go brawling after a few months You'll need to learn other aspects of fighting.

most schools are going to teach mainly the sport aspect.

you will need to modify or practice on your own.. or in your other classes on how to apply it for a self defense situation
