journalist looking to interview personal trainers

Hello,

I'm writing a newspaper article about personal training at health clubs and am looking to interview personal trainers who have been employed (or are employed) at health clubs, especially major chains. Email me if you're available: [email protected].

Thanks!

well, since you asked in this particular forum. Mostly anyone employed in a healthclub/chain is going to be full of sh*t. They teach horrible form, don't pay attention, don't teach compound movements, don't encourage slow and steady progress, know absolutely nothing about nutrition, can't teach olympic style lifts, teach horrible ROM. I could go on but you get the point. I have personally seen everything I listed at Golds Gym in College Station, Tx.

Oh another point, you won't find any on this site. Everyone here (except Iliketolift) is interested in learning and furthering their weight training. Most of the trainers I have seen insist they are right, and never actually try the exercise themselves. It is PAINFUL to watch them coach clients.

A&M Student? I taught in the Kinesiology department for 6 years, there! There used to be some really good guys running the Gold's there, and I'm surprised to see this happen. Maybe they're gone. That sucks, man.

Good luck!

s8nlilhlpr is right about the responses you'll get in Weight Training. 7 forum listings below this one is a forum called Personal Trainer. Chances are you'll get what you're looking for there.
