John Edwards' speech: pure class warfare

I believe right now in Brazil, 2% of the population holds 80% of the money

That's a worse angle than the USA.

Book a 5 star hotel in Rio. You'll have a nice view of the slums from your suite.

USA is a place where if you apply yourself, educate yourself, and enact a plan you can do very well. If you want to be a piece of shit and have a victim mentality that the democraps seem to perpetuate, then life will certainly suck for you.

If you listen to a John Kerry or John Edwards speech, you would think we are in a depression. The democrats are going to lose big in November. State by state polls have Bush ahead by a large margin in the electoral college. Edwards won't even help Kerry win his home state of North Carolina...lol. The only reason this ambulance chaser ran for Presifent was because he was certain to lose his next Senate bid.

Poor in America means you only get basic cable.

Funny joke, but not true.

Being poor in American can mean looking at your children and knowing that no matter how much you might wish for them to have a better life than you, they probably won't. It can mean having to fear for your life every time you bring your groceries home (or walk to school). It can mean not being able to afford to feed the food to your children that you know would keep them healthy. And when they do get sick, it can mean not being able to afford the medicine that could save their lives. Finally, it can mean not having a roof over your head, and having to find hazardous shelter every time the sun goes down.

We may not have the excessive masses of poor folk that exist in some other countries, but for the increasing number of people here that are truly poor, it's a lot worse than not having 90 channels of crap to choose from. I don't think that what the Democrats are about is class warfare. Nobody's shouting to eat the rich. I think they're just talking about making sure that all Americans have the opportunity to pursue their own happiness. It doesn't seem like that unrealistic a goal. And it sure seems like it would be worthwhile.

We're not poor. We got a nice tax break from Bush and his folks, but as I said to Maj last night, I'd gladly do without that extra bit of blowable cash so that the folks around me could be happier.

Then just do it. Give away your tax refund to the poor around you. Don't whine and gnash your teeth about it.

Why does it have to be given to the govt and then redistributed? Why not just give yourself?

Plenty of government housing, food stamps and college loans anyone can get.

Other countries being poorer than the US and having a rich elite with a large poor population doesn't mean that the US is not leading in inequality.

I don't think you can get a more inequitable society like the US has, because of it's super-wealthy elite, not Brazil or any other country has so many billionaires while at the same time still having an underclass.

Brazil and other third world countries have an unequal society as well, yes, but these countries are poor as it is. The US is super rich, just taxing the wealthiest 10 citizens could solve all of their problems stemming from unequal distribution of wealth.

Kerry stands up at a podium and says "all except those earning over $200K will keep their tax cut". In other words, if you earn over $200K, your taxes will go up.

$200K per year is far from rich. And this is not class warfare?

Edwards stads up there and says "there are two Americas, one for those who have achieved the American dream, and one for those still struggling to make ends meet"

How much more flagrant can the class warfare be than "two Americas" and "higher taxes for higher earners"??
