Job Interviews - Unfair appointments?

Have you ever spent a lot of time preparing for a job interview only to find that the jobs went to very close friends of the manager making the appointments?

I have a very close friend who this happened too recently. It was for a job in the public sector and they were easily qualified and more than likely gave a better interview than the 'successful candidates' who just happened to be on the managers facebook friends list. This manager had also invited these 'successful candidates' around to his house warming party the week before interviews. Another similar role which he was involved with appointing for went to his girlfriend at the same time.

As it's a public sector job then this sort of thing isn't allowed but my friend is afraid that if she makes a complaint then she will definately not get any promotions in future. Would you make a complaint in this situation?

Politics are everywhere. Unless she can prove that she was without a doubt more qualified and interviewed better (basically impossible) than I wouldn't do a thing to jeopardize her job as of now.

This is the public sector. Experience, skills, competence, performance are not necessary in a government job where profit is not the motive. Work hard 8 hours, work easy 8 hours = same pay.

Favoritism is THE norm when it comes to these cushy jobs. Who told you the opposite?

If your girl is not pleased with what is going on around her then she needs to find another job. What is this "make a complaint" Nancy bullshit?

My best friend had to wait over two fullyears to get her due when she was passed over for a promotion that she busted her ass to get. They passed her over because SHE HAD TITTIES and gave the job to a far less qualified incompetent individual who happened to be 20 years her junior because HE HAD A COCK. So they gave her some extra "stay happy money" and paid for her to become a master samolier (sp) (which she was THRILLED about) and she continued to do her job and watch "boy wonder" FUCK IT AAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLL UP. Finally, the fuck-up got sooooooo egregious that the trustees could no longer tolerate it. Well only problem was that in this line of work the trustees (who chose the dipshit with the dick) couldn't just fire the guy but had to wait to find a place where they could ship his sorry ass off to.

She gained formal recognition and the promotion this week.

She is THE ONLY WOMAN EVER in the club's 100+ year history to have earned her position.
