Job Interview....

Minimum wage is usually standard at Burger King. You might be able to squeeze 50 cents more out of them if you have prior fryer experience.

Yeah, but I'm going for the management position! I don't want anymore money, just free BK Broilers!!!

Never bring up salary in a first interview.

I never have, but it is just a pain to go to interview #3, to find out it is a pay cut...but I guess that is the chance you take when you are trying to bettter yourself.

As a manager, DOT, what does someone asking that at the first meeting say to you??

I interview other writers myself now and then. It tells me that they are getting ahead of themselves and that money is more important than it should be at this point in the process.

If you really need to know, many job descriptions will include a pay range. I don't think it would be inappropriate to ask what that range is PRIOR to the interview.

I ALWAYS make it very clear to candidates what the pay range is. With so many candidates in the market these days, I don't want to waste time interviewing someone who i'm not even going to come close to with money.

Right. You'll want to know that you're in the same neighborhood pay-wise so you're not wasting each others time. But first interviews are mainly about guaging the candidates skills and experience. In fact, that first interview will have a large bearing not only on whether you're hired, but on how much you are paid.

So bb - figure out the range before you go in. But don't discuss a specific salary until the third or fourth interview.

I also agree not to bring it up the first interview. The majority of the jobs I've seen put a starting salary or list a pay range w/ the job description.

What sort of job are you applying for beastboy?

Good luck to you.

It is for an engineering position. The reason I ask, is because I have gone a couple where I go to 3 interviews and then find out it is a cut. I wasted all that time, and did all that lying to get out of work early.

Even if I am asked how much I am looking for I'll tell them I want to make a step forward from where I am now, but that doen't always mean dollar compensation....... I look at their other benefits.
