im thinking of trying HST but i dont want to waste any time if its not gonna work. i also dont understand it at all. could anybody with any experience or knowledge of it help me understand it better?

maybe i should do the 5x5 or something that i know would work. whats the best mass-gaining program you all know of?

if it helps any, my immediate goals are to bring up my shoulders and bi's. im going to start squatting and deadlifting again this week and see how that goes. if that works, i want my back to be a priority also.

Make a list of what you...

1) Want

2) Need

From there design a plan on what you can do to fill both of them.

B True

what i want is: 15 pounds of clean mass before christmas

what i need to get there, is some gainer and a nice program. i also need more sleep and more meals during the day.

anybody wanna help me out?

Ask for money from parents or something of that sort, for money for the gainer. Try sleeping earlier then if you need more sleep, obviously. Get a job if money's really an issue. Take a town bus or something to get to town... if ya' can. I'm not sure really, just throwing things at you.

i have money for some gainer that i order tomorrow. i can only lift at my school for a couple more weeks until the asshole coaches start piling in and telling me i cant lift without doing their shit program. i cant get a job until i can drive, and i cant get rides. my parents wont give me anything and actually try to take things little by little.

IMO is was do a Westside Barbell program.. Mass+Strength.

Check out my journal thread for the lowdown on the program and/or drop me a PM

Shit man, that's rough. But don't give in ever, it may be hard and you might not accomplish the goals you want in time... but never give in. I've come close to giving up with things in life when they seem too hard (or when they truly are) but the one thing that kept me goin' is my girlfriend, and Eminem's music. Not the songs that talk about just drugs and shit, but download a few songs like
Soldier, Lose Yourself, 'Till I Collapse, Sing For The Moment, Fight Music... they're just all motivating to me, and the words to the first four are especially good for lifting you off your feet. Talks 'bout he won't give up no matter how much he's downed and stuff.

That's all I can really say, because I can't think of any good alternatives now. You basically seem stuck in a rut for now. Goodluck with it though, man.

i do not discriminate, but rap is not my favorite. i listen to everything.

back to training..i was doing westside for a couple weeks, bench-only, and all that happened was i got a little development in the shoulders, from plate raises. other than that i just got a little bit fatter.

HST looks really good on paper, 30 min. max workouts, only a couple sets per day, 3 days a week. PR's are supposed to be made on all lifts every day you lift. the PR's come in the form of 5 pound increases for the same amount of reps that you did 2 days ago. this goes for all lifts. perhaps i can gain size and strength on this program, in that order.

I did HST for 4 months.. the best part for me was I added 20 rep heavy breathing squats. It was totaly intense My goal was/is to work up to 1.5x bw for 20 reps. Last time I did it I was at 270# for 20.. Totaly intense and I grew everywhere from them.. my arms grew bigger from my squats! TRUE!

yes i've done these before but not with heavy enough weights. after HST, i will do the 20 rep squat program, if i know i can get enough food during that time. what else does the program consist of for the week?

i'm going to do HST, if somebody can help me put it together. i know some basic things and i've read every article on the site 4 times now. i just dont know what the split looks like. i would like to do 2 sets for every lift

you could probably do anything

do the coaches watch you that closely to know that you aren't doing their program?

yes.

i have a plan now though. instead of any DB movements, i could use a barbell (ie: curls) and for legs i could do front squats and STL and toe raises with a loaded barbell instead of full squats. probably wont get as great a benefit, but it might have to do

wow that sucks, but don't you have anything at home? I heard you say something about having 390 lbs of weight lying around the house if you quit powerlifting

yes, that was my plan in my previous post. however, i dont have a squat rack and i only have 20 lb DB's

Then just don't do squats j/k

I don't have a squat rack either, I just have to squat down under the weigh ton my bench rack, but be careful putting it back though

i tried that once about 3 months ago...with only 185. i couldnt rack it. way too dangerous
