Jenetic: question about fertility, HRT, and HCG

view

New member
I am soon to be starting HRT. The basic doseage will be 100mg of Testosterone enanthate per week. I still also cycle regularly (and somewhat heavily 1-1.5 grams/week) and pretty much follow the time on = time off prinicple (only now time off isn't really off per se).

my biggest concern is concerning fertility. Will HCG useage do a significant amount to prevent this from happening? Also, are there any other things one can use to maintain fertility while on? How about clomid? Isn't it a fertility drug?

(**As a note as to why I have gone the HRT route; I have trouble maintaining natural test levels. I run a PCT and they are fine, but then they always taper off to the low-mid range in time. it has happened 4-5 times).

HRT and/or the usage of AAS does not automatically result in infertility. In fact, many users have conceived pregnancies during cycles. Due to the variation in results, this is also a reason why most hormonal contraception therapies require a secondary gonadotropin suppressing agent such as progestins, in addition to testosterone, in order to achive azoospermia. Another issue to consider is the actual ester being utilized. Long acting injectable esters, such as testosterone enanthate, are more successful in suppressing spermatogenesis compared to short acting testosterone preparations requiring daily or more frequent administration such as oral, transdermal patches or gels. These short acting preparations are acceptable for androgen replacement therapy but are not appropriate for hormonal contraception. My recomendation is to obtain one of the short acting preparations listed above and avoid the additional hassles of combining other medications. Regardless, the suppressive effects on spermatogenesis are reversible and/or can be initiated when necessary by discontinuing HRT or initiating gonadotropin therapy.
