Ive known many Christians who have backslid.....seems to me that the JW faith is much stronger..kinda like, once a JW - always a JW...does anyone know of anyone who's chosen to leave the faith??

I don't know anyone personally that has chosen to leave the organization but many JW have left the organization. I'm talking millions of people.

Usually the people that leave are the ones that have doubts about the religion already. If the religion is the persons life and they have no doubts they will not leave the religion and will defend it no matter what you tell them because if they leave they feel they have no where or no one to turn to for answers about what happens to them in the afterlife.

What about being DISFELLOWSHIPPED? My friend has told me that if they do something wrong (sin or whatever) then they are disfellowshiped and their fellow JW brothers/sisters cant speak to them until they prove they are sorry and get their life right for a certain amount of time.....they have some strange rules!

Here are some of the stupid rules of the JW Religion:
*No blood transfusions
*No organ transplants
*No beards
*No flag salute
*No Military service
*Alternative service is ok as long as you get arrested first
*No skirts with high slits
*No Birthdays, Christmas, Easter, etc.
*No masterbation
*No sex before marriage

I've been periodically shooting these folks who keep coming to my door for the last five or six months. Are these the people you are talking about? They carry magazines with them. I don't read them though, as they are very boring.

Ya I think my Ex-Gf was disfellowshipped for not walking a straight line. They definitely have some wierd rules.

And when some go out, they REALLY go out. It's like some are predisposed to extremism anyway, so once they leave the faith, they just take it to the other extreme. The woman who originally got my mom into the religion has a son that gave it up along with his wife. I see him at clubs I bounce at occasionally because he has one of those huge spotlights used for grand openings. His wife is a massage therapist and is drop dead gorgeous- she really knows how to show it off, too. The dude is one of those types that likes other guys to look at her. Last time I saw them, they were both drunk and he let the band sign her titties (which are absolutely fantastic). So on their way out, he's like, "Check this out!", and he lifted her top up and grabbed a hold of one of her titties like he was strangling it. She just looked me dead in the eye and smiled. Keep in mind these people's parents are elders in the congregation and have known me since I was eight years old- now I'm getting the boob show. I think at some point I've seen every part of that woman's body. Crazy shit. I can think of some other examples, but I think that one gives you some idea. Witnesses and ex- Witnesses are human too.

When I got one of my new toys, I thought it was sooo awesome - I sent my JW Friend an email....it was an ad w/the pic of the new dildo/vibrator - telling her she HAD to buy one of these....I always wondered why I never got a response to that email...I didnt know it was against the religion....

Is oral sex against the religion also??? I remember saying something about that and she changed the subject VERY quickly!!

The rules against oral sex were listed in various Watchtower articles over the years. The articles were ostensibly based on the Bible but, as we all know, the Bible doesn't say one word about oral sex. So the articles really were a matter of taking some principles and applying it to the subject using human reasoning.

As to what those reasons were, well, they were kind of bizarre. Basically, here is why they condemned oral sex:

1. It is an unnatural use of the sex organs.
2. It is something that homosexuals do.

That's basically it, other than vague implications that it's "dirty" and the like. Now, here are the problems with those 'reasons':

1. Animals perform oral sex, so it appears to be quite natural.
2. Homosexuals like to live in nice places. Is that wrong to do too? Just because homosexuals do something, it doesn't make it wrong, even if you condemn homosexuality.

Now, here's the REAL reason the WTS condemns oral sex:

They are led by aging leaders who come from a repressed background on the subject. They find the subject icky, and so they condemn it in others.

I should point out that the WTS has relaxed its rules against oral sex in recent years. It used to be quite serious, but now it's more of a 'don't ask/don't tell' situation.
