With all due respect, fuck em'.

I do not understand their beliefs...but I do listen to them when they come knocking. My doberman will not let them in the house...or even near it...but I do go out into the driveway and listen.

I remember talking to a friend of mine, who was a minister. He said that a JW walked into his office to talk with him about his beliefs. They spent about an hour debating their beliefs among one another till they became very heated. The JW looked at my friend, the minister, and said..."if you believe so much what you do, why are you not out spreading the word...like I am?".

You have to respect that. The believe so much that they will put up with being put down, laughed at, etc...just to spread their word.

I remember a friend in school who was in a bad car wreck who was a JW. Her parents refused for her to have a blood transfusion. That was hard on a lot us...thank God she came out alive.

Funny I was just talking about this today. I have family in Rochester that are JW, my mom was telling me way back when they first got involved she told her cousin "that's great for you but when you come to my house leave it at home". In Virginia, it's Mormons who are coming door to door. Personally I find it a complete invasion, I feel like I'm being put in an awkward position, when I say no thank you, I'm not interested, because what is it I'm not interested in God? I consider myself quite spiritual, however, when I want counseling I will seek it. I hate this fucking door to door sales of religion. I think there is a less intrusive way to spread the word. Once a JW came to my door and I looked out the peephole and said no thanks, I'm not interested and the woman in an extremely caustic voice said "May I ask EXACTLY what it is you're not interested in?" I said "Are you Jehovah Witness?" She said "Yes" , I replied "Like I said I'm not interested" Another time my friend and I were getting out the car and they began walking up to us, asking if they could come in and talk to us, we said "sure", as we pulled out the twelve pack of Heineken, and offered them a bottle.

Many have commented that they dislike the door to door preaching work carried on by the Witnesses. I feel this is generally due to a lack of understanding as to why they do this sort of preaching work. I can relate to this somewhat, as previously I did not understand why they do this either.

When Jesus sent out his early disciples, he directed them to go to the homes of he people.(Matt. 10:7, 11-13)The apostle paul said regarding his ministry: " I did not hold back from telling you any of he things that were profitable nor from teaching you publicly and from house to house."-Acts 20:20,21; see also Acts 5:42.

Jesus foretold for our day this work:"This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all nations; and then the end will come." He also instructed his followers: "Go...and make disciples of people of all the nations."-Matt.24:14;28:19.

The message that the Witnesses proclaim involves the lives of people; they want to be careful to miss no one.(Zeph.2:2,3)Their calls are motivated by love-first for God, also for their neighbor.

As the above scriptures will attest, their door to door preaching work emulates the example and directive given by Jesus Christ. They preach the good news of God's Kingdom, so that people may choose to depart from their sinful ways and put faith in Jesus, so that they might have the opportunity for everlasting life.

Religion can be a very touchy subject for many people. Many individuals feel it an insult to their own views when someone attempts to provide a basis for a contrary belief. However, we should not disregard contrary beliefs merely because they differ from our own or from popular opinion. We should investigate to determine which beliefs truly have merit according to the Bible. For example, often people will accept their parents or relatives religious ideologies by default, but never investigate if they have scriptural merit. I know of many people who take a religion, but know very little about it or if it coincides with Bible teaching, yet will defend their beliefs no matter what.

Many might feel that the Witnesses are pushing their religion on others. This is not their objectice at all. They are merely trying to offer what they believe to be accurate Biblical information in an attempt to benefit others. People can choose to accept their message or reject it. I feel the important thing is for people to investigate their beliefs. Rather than simply accepting a teaching as fact because it is prevelant or widely accepted, probe to see if it has merit according to the scriptures. If we do not put forth such effort, how can we know if what we believe is correct?

How can everything they preach be accurate biblical information?
Almost everything they teach (Armageddon/607 BCE) can be easily disproven.

Read the book Crisis of Conscience to get a better understanding of what the JW religion is really about.

Bottom line is that the JW religion is a cult.

Cult??

Is this religious group a cult or sect as many contend?

Some define sect to mean a group that has broken away from an established
religion. Others apply the term to a group that follows a particular human leader
or teacher. The term is usually used in a derogatory way. Jehovah's Witnesses
are not an offshoot of some church but include persons from all walks of life and
from many religious backgrounds. They do not look to any human, but rather to
Jesus Christ, as their leader.

A cult is a religion that is said to be unorthodox or that emphasizes devotion
according to prescribed ritual. Many cults follow a living human leader, and often
their adherents live in groups apart from the rest of society. The standard for
what is orthodox, however, should be God's Word, and Jehovah's Witnesses
striclty adhere to the Bible. Their worship is a way of life, not a ritual devotion.
They neither follow a human nor isolate themselves from the rest of society.
They live and work in the midst of other people.
