I've Lost My Appetite!

New member
Has anyone experienced this during comp. prep? I don't feel like eating...just not very hungry. Ending my first week of increased cardio (2, 30 min. sessions) and modified diet some more. My energy levels are down and so is strength a little. So with all this combined I have lost my appetite. Anyone else?

Most of the time I have NO problem eating - especially when bulking, but when cutting I sometimes have this problem. I think it's mental. You're doing increased cardio, and watching your diet to the T. I think that your subconscious is in "tip toe" mode and it controls your hunger a little bit. Does that make any sense?????

Yes it does! I went from craving everything last week to wanting nothing this week...I guess that's a good thing on the "cheat" side of it LOL!!

Don't deprive yourself of your regular meals as hard as it is. You'll end up overdoing it later :worried: I know you already know this, but we all need to hear it sometimes. :)

I know...I wont. I keep to my schedule even though I don't really want it. I need the energy source or I will be even worse than I already am. Thanks girl!!! ;)

Hmmm you want to be careful that you aren't killing your metabolism. You should feel hungry when it's meal time, what are you calories around? You may want to start watching your temperature.

How are you feeling? mentality and physically?

Are you taking anything that's an appetite suppressant?

My cals are around 1500-1200 right now. I'm feeling fatigued one minutes and ready to go the next. My strength is down, not a ton but I can tell I cannot get through as many reps as I could before. I am not taking an appetite supp. right now. I was but I got off for the nex couple of weeks until I get closer to the show. I think my body was getting used to it. It really didn't make any difference in my energy levels anymore. Getting lots of sleep and still eating every two hours like I am supposed to.

When I get like this while dieting, I throw in a huge cheat meal

Hmmmmmm, he may be on to something here. Get the "juices" flowing again?!?!? Of course, with you being in contest prep, this may not be the best thing. How far out are you again?

I am officially 6 weeks out and I have no cheat meals from now on :worried:

I have to agree with scorpiongirl...I like the term "tip toe mode" That seems to fit well.

I seems to get me about 6 weeks in to a diet...but it is only a "stage' that I go through. After about 2 weeks, it seems as if it is easier for me to eat what I plan or am supposed to eat.

Are you keeping notes on how you feel each day relative to your eating schedule? Part of competition prep is absolutely remembering that eating time is fueling time regardless of whether or not you feel like eating. Part of what you are doign is conditioning your body to expect food at specific times of day so it will react or be a certain way at specific times of the day on COMPETITION DAY.

If you are feeling overly tired then you might want to look at when you are getting your carb-ups (carb cycling up days) and also the quality of your sleep. I'm sure this is just a phase of prep as you're eating the same stuff all the time & its great if you can just fall into the schedule. But watch it just the same. No cheat meals but be sure to get enough carbs to function.

Hi Sassy...Yes I keep a daily log and journal for myself and my trainer of what I'm eating, what times, quality of sleep, how much sleep and how I feel at different times of the day. I make sure I get most of my carbs early in the day and before my training. Then just protien post workout (within an hour). I have actually been feeling a little better the past couple of days since I first posted this thread.

I have cut out all processed foods at this point and dairy. So I am upping my protien just a tad to compensate for the loss and making sure that no matter where I am or what I'm doing I always stick to my two hour schedule so I don't get hungry. It's tough now not having that one cheat meal a week!!! But I am 5 1/2 weeks out...NO TIME FOR SLACKING NOW!!! TOUGH IT OUT! IT"S TIME TO ROCK!!!!!!
