i've just discovered bit torrents

the entire pink floyd box set, including live and rare shit, dl'ed in a few hours.

there is a comment section and i only dl from shit that has good comments...i guess they could be bogus comments but so far so good.
a tribe called quest, entire collection, fresh with artwork, just finished up dl'ing.
a wonderful thing...at one time or another i've bought most of this music, that's my justification

u can't get viruses from mp3's.

If you leave bittorrent running 24/7 your isp will start to throttle your bandwidth. It's still file sharing and you're still a criminal.
Would've only taken a few minutes if you used Rapidshare. It's worth the $10 a month or less if you buy longer term.
P2P/torrents suck ass, even if you don't get a virus chances are with music you'll get a song that has those *bleeeeeeeeeps* or *squeeeels* in the middle of them. Rapidshare/Megaupload is where it's at.

Its true, somewhat. My mom works for qwest doing dsl tech, don't know how she can barely use most programs on a PC, but always fixes my internet issues. Anyway, she used used to always warn me about downloading and how i will get caught. I brushed off those warnings for years. She said they recently have been required to shut off internet service to people who download and are working with some group, she didn't know who. and more people are being fined.
Not the most detailed information i know. But i am more cautious of what i download.
Get into death metal and bands don't give a flying fuck if you download their shit. Actually, most are happy about it. lol

Im short, it's a blocking program that comes with huge lists that are updated daily. The IP numbers on the list are submitted by users. The IP numbers usually belong to media companies, anti piracy companies etc. If you have the program enabled it doesn't allow those media or anti piracy companies to connect to you. It blocks them out.
Be sure to install it and read the websites forums and ask questions there if you need.
