ITunes............F%$&!

So is anyone else having a pain in the ass time with the latest ITunes 5.0 upgrade....????

Mine now fails to open at all.....WTF??? Apple is aware of the problem I suppose, but has anyone else figured out a fix??

iTunes 5.0 is broken, the Mac boards are full of complaints, and you can't roll it back to an earlier version -- so if you haven't installed it yet, don't.

Guessing when Apple will revise the price list is a chancy game. Steve Jobs likes money almost as much as George does... he's a nerd hero for taking Apple back from Scully, but you don't do that by being all sweetness and light. All evidence says Jobs has a serious Bastard streak (and I say that with deep admiration).

Apparently 5.01 is out now and fixes the problems. I use it so little that I hadn't noticed any problems so don't take this as a recommendation.

I already installed it.....so am I at the mercy of Apple until they release ITunes 7.456609383?? What if I uninstall Itunes altogether, then reinstall it with the older version that came with my Mini....?? I know it won't let me roll back to a previous version with 5.0 still on there....

Your thoughts...??

I attempted to update with this off of Apple's site, and it still gives me a fatal error, sayong "ITunes has encountered problems and needs to close"

It does this immediately upon finishing the download.....and anytime I try to open it.

I hate computers.

Thoughts people??

In your position I'd uninstall. If it continued to give me grief after a reinstall, I'd hack the registry and further grief would have me nuking Windoze.

I'd say go for the uninstall and reinstall route.

I would back up your music, if it's in the same directory, uninstall everything then reinstall 5.1. If that fails uninstall 5.1 then reinstall what you had originally.

pitbull, do you have an XP system? If so you may be able to go back to a restore point before you started the upgrade.

Yep, but I already tried that.....then it said "ITunes can not open due to certain files missing". So I DL'd 5.01, thinking that would fix it, and it is still giving me the same error that 5.0 was giving..."ITunes has encountered a problem and needs to close".

Nano.......nano........nano.......nano......No music for Pitbullstl.

So I uninstalled this mother%$&*!, and then reinstalled via the original cd that came with my Mini.....and the mother&%$#! still won't open!!!!

I hate computers, and they hate me......the one I am presently typing on, is about to get a nice lumberjack toss out onto the patio......thank god for laptops.....although, this still does not solve my problem, as this is the "kids" computer, and I am having the same problem on the one my wife uses for music.......??????!!!???

I'd call the local Apple Store, but I'm sure they'd say something clever, like it's user error.....then I'd have to drive to the mall and kill some motherfuckers.

Any and all ideas are welcome.

Before uninstalling the upgrade it would say "ITunes has encountered a problem and needs to close". After uninstalling, and reinstalling the ITunes cd 4.5 from my Mini box, it now says Quicktime has an issue, and won't open ITunes...........?????

Here's an idea. Uninstall Itunes AND Quicktime, then reinstall Quicktime 7 which comes with Itunes 5.

Hey DT, I appreciate your help.....must spread etc...

As for Quicktime, it shows it in the add/remove programs list, but yet it say's it's not there when I try to remove it........

So what do you think, a 1/4 stick of dynamite should do the trick, no??

Make sure there is no C:\Program Files\QuickTime directory at all. If there is delete it...if it won't delete a couple M-80's should suffice.
