I was in Phuket years ago. Beautiful place, some very pretty women,(some ladyboys look so good drunk you'll freak out!), scuba diving is great, and nothing is too expensive. Lots of Euro vacationers there when I was. Bring rubbers with you, don't get them there. I rented a bungalow on the beach but there was a new Hotel at the other end.
If you go to Pattya Beach check out Marlynns, you'll never look at a gash the same again. I hung out at a British Pub there that was around since way back. Merc's in & out of the area stop through. Good place for contacts. Bangkok was dangerous when I was there. I didn't do much around there & kept a low profile. Phuket was chill.

I didn't get to one of those. My time there was usually only a few days at a time. If you're only going for a week or so it will fly by. I was there a few times before I went and saw a Budist Temple. Those are to be visited carefully as well. Hire a driver/tourguide, tip, and buy his lunch, it's worth it. You can tell him what you want to see. He'll treat you well and keep you out of trouble if you take care of him. Mine took us to a Mui Thai tournament that was crazy.
