Sassy, hey there girl!!. ;) .. I totally agree with you!!!! I am trying everything to get these delts popping.. but it seems to be a weak area for me.. I always tighten up in my trap when I go heavy on shoulders and it pisses me off!!! I want to get a back shot posted for you guys so you can see how it looks I tried taking a picture by myself but it didnt come out well..

I am extremely honored by your compliment ;) .. thank you!! I was really hoping you would post your opinion on here...

I actually ordered the Yohimburn ES on Friday as well as the Glucorell to take with my meals that have carbs.. (i have been reading your posts :) ). I hope to get it no later than this Wednesday.. My trainer says that I am still holding water and that once I start depleting the week of the show things should be looking really good.. ( I hope he is right).. Right now I am trying to focus on lower back and shoulders... 5 more weeks!!!

*** I am very nervous b/c the I just found out a "ringer" will be competing in my height class :worried: ... this girl is a figure competitor and has competed on a national level, she has done loads of growth over the years and does crazy amounts of steroids that would even scare guys.. I am hoping her looks will be too hard for judges.. or that she overdoses on the cocaine she sniffs.. :evil: (yup she does drugs)***

Anyhow, I have been using this thought as fuel and have been pushing extremely hard in the gym!!!!!

I have to admit at first I was very disappointed and low on moral when I heard the news... Especially her reason for doing the show is out of spite, she has it out with another girl who is doing the show and is in another height class..

Anyhow, this ringer is a night dancer who really lives a hard core party life.. she is also much older so her muscles are much more mature than mine but she is on so much shit, its scary :evil: .. I am only 22yrs old and this is my first show but my condition is pretty good and I really abide by the books.. clean eats constantly, plenty of water, in bed by 9pm or 10 pm the latest and up running on an empty stomach at 6am in morning.. I am in the gym twice a day.. Really giving all I got.. It just sucks knowing no matter what I do I can not beat this girl..she is a beast!!! :chomp:

Welcome to the world of competition. It is so political and one-sided for a variety of reasons. The important thing is to do your first show for the experience & for yourself. If you can make an excellent showing, even better. But just keep in mind that the reality is the barriers to entry for figure shows at anything except the pro level are relatively low so there are LOTS of people getting involved. This girl you are concerned about might come out too hard and be ignored by the judges & someone you didnt' suspect is an up & comer w/ the right connections. Who knows?

Maybe don't *expect* some sort of less than fair play, but don't be suprised by it, and just be sure that you get out of the show what you want. Don't beat yourself down at all for anythign less than a first place. I continue to point out that especially if you are new, you can't set yourself up to judge yourself in live or die terms for one show. There are LOTS of shows going on with LOTS of competitors. Its one thing to do all the work to prepare for show, but there's also a lot of work required to being able to "do" shows well.

I know, your right, its hard to keep that competitive attitude tamed at times. I definitely am looking foward to the behind the scenes of a figure show.. And I am also glad that I made the decision to do two shows back to back.. I have been learning alot during the past 7 weeks about dieting, training and all the different ways to "shock" the body.. I am still playing around with a lot of these tactics right now.. And I am soooooooo happy i found this board to keep me on my toes and to release any tention I am feeling..

10:00am: :coffee: 1 cup of coffee w/ 1 cup of fiber one :p

2:00pm: 30 min interval training session on arc trainer: 400 calories burned

5:00pm: Weight Train (Legs) 4 excersises concentrating on quads

Okay quick change up :rolleyes: .. since i will be training abs during lunch I decided to switch meal 3 & 4 :chomp: .. I will eat the egg whites and spinach now and the chick, spinach & oatmeal after my ab routine!! :p To replinish!!! and have a little bit of carbs in my system before I hit hamstrings and do cardio at 5pm..

At this point I dont know anymore.. It just sounds better to me!!!

Okay here is what has been established this weekend!! I am overtraining and overdoing it with the cardio and not taking in enough calories (reason why bf has not dropped).. I was banned from the gym on Sunday by my trainer!! Yesterday night i start to feel sick, flu like symptoms, I wake up i have a soar throat!! I am freaking out!! Note that my log today will have lots of Vitamin C!! Plenty of water ( I always drink 1 gallon and a half in one day) and I did no morning cardio.. Lots of positive thoughts going through my mind, I did not do all this for the past 8 weeks for nothing!! I will prevail!!!

Mental Thought: I think knowing that i am going up against 2 RINGERS.. thats right not one!! but two !! has got me all worked up and has had me intake low calories and overtraining and I hate to admit it my body is paying for it!!

Okay here is the plan I have decided to intake all natural foods from now until the end and no more carb cycling until the week of the show!! Here we go:

June 13th: NO MORE CARB CYCLING, NO MORE SHAKES!! 3 weeks & 5 days out!!

No Morning Cardio: Feeling tired & I have a soar throat which I am trying to take care of with Vitamin C, Mouth wash, & tons of water
7:30am (Multi Vitamin, 1 Glucorell, Vitamin C)

8:00am (Meal 1): 4 oz. chicken with 1/3 cup of oatmeal w/glutamine & 1 fish oil: 30g protein, 15 g carbs = 180 calories

10:30am: 1 Glucorell
11:00am (Meal 2): 4 oz. chicken w/ 3 oz. sweet potato & ½ cup of kale & 1 fish oil & Vitamin C: 30g protein, 20g carbs, 5 g fiber carbs = 220 calories


12:30pm: 1 Glucorell


1:00pm (Meal 3): 4 oz. chicken w/ ½ cup of Kale & ½ cup of fiber one cereal & 1 fish oil = 30g protein, 15 g carbs (fiber) = 180 calories

Girl forget who you're competing against. You need to start thinking this is a competition with yourself and not the other girls, I think you may set yourself up for disappointment if you keep forcing on the fact that "you're up against 2 ringers".

I don't remember is this your 1st competition?
 
Sounds like your body is demanding some time off! Probably a good thing -- just eat clean & on your schedule. Sleep lots and dont' worry about the show. Better you take the time now than 3 days before. Definitely lots of water and just relax! SLEEP! You will probably come out of this feelign a million times better!

And like M24 said -- just focus on YOU bringing YOUR A-game to the stage. I always look at energy you spend worrying about others as energy that you are literally taking away from yourself and giving to your competition. DON'T DO THAT! Make those judges feel like they came there to see YOU! The rest of the people on stage are just there as ornamentation for the stage. They are irrelevant. They are nothing! They are POND SCUM! THEY CAN DO NOTHING EXCEPT BASK IN THE GLOW THAT IS YOU!

P.S. I ended up not doing the cardio during lunch b/c I was just sooooo tired so I listened to my body and went tanning instead (got a good 15 min power nap).. and dropped some extra water i am holding today.
 
Well since it's your first show then I'm going to tell you what I was told. Do not let it consume you. Work your ass off, diet like you're going to win this thing, but in your mind make sure to remember this is your first show, and you want it to be something to remember so don't get carried away, do the best you can, and pay attention to what is going on, soar it all up, and most of all enjoy yourself.

Do not set yourself up for disappointment, regardless of your placement walk away a winner even if you are dead last because you are a winner the moment you step on stage and show that audience what you've been workng so hard for you are a winner. You need to remember to compete against yourself, do not set your bar to high right now, just enjoy the experience.

And once you've done your first competition you'll know what you need to improve on and you can work from there.

I wish you nothing but the best huney, and I really want you to enjoy this competition, so don't have any expectations, just train and diet like you mean it, and whatever happens happens.

If its your first show, how can you have a true assessment about what these other girls have that you don't? There's almost no point to even worrying about it. And whatever they have is going to almost certainly be skewed by whatever politics are inherent to the show anyway. It is nothing but your first step along the path of a person who has experienced figure competition for whatever purpose YOU have. If you make your goal "WIN THIS CONTEST", that's a very short-ended goal over which you don't necessarily have full control. Get out of it what is appropriate to get out of it. Anythign more than that is icing on the cake! If even nothing more than just gettign on stage, you will have accomplished both something most people wouldnt' have the guts to do, and also one complete experience in figure comp. In one day you become a fountain of knowledge and an old hand at the whole thing. The one thing you dont want to do is come out of it miserable. That will cost you more than just the day of the show. It just simply is the wrong goal and absolutely not worth it.

You guys are totally awesome, I know I said that already but I will say it again!!!

Sassy: Just so you know i didnt train today at all, i went home and slept. I also had a 2 teaspoons of ANPB and I started to feel better physically, i think my total calorie and fat intake for today was low, i felt the blood sugar dropping but as soon as i had those 2 small teaspoons i felt more energy.. I am still a bit congested but its getting better. I am drinking my chamomile w/lemon and i added 2 teaspoons of Glutamine.

Right now I am getting ready to go to bed!! I am exhausted. Thanks again girls!!I really appreciate your advice and kind words.. i really needed to hear it!!!!

Hey all!!!

Feeling about 85% better!! I took yesterday off and drank lots of tea and chamomile with tons of lemon to sooth the throat!! I also ate a tablespoon of ANPB and it brought me back to life!! :p I guess the bloods sugar and fats were too low yesterday and the body needed the xtra calories. I took a Advil Cold capsule yesterday night and this morning. Anyhow, I was told to lay off the cardio until Thursday and just concentrate on the weight training!! So today I am back in the gym for a Back/Shoulders/Biceps excersise and maybe just BS cardio on the treadmill a nice little walk to cool down ;)

I physically and mentally feel much more alert than yesterday but the throat is still a little scratchy its slowly going away.

Anyhow here is what i have had so far:

Wake 7:15am: 1 multi vitamin & 1 vitamin C & 1 Glucorell

Meal 1: 8:00am 7:15 whites & 1 whole w/ 1/2 cup of oatmeal and 3 teaspoons of glutamine

9:00am: Fish oil

Meal 2: 11:00am: 4 oz. chicken w/ 1 cup of Kale & fish oil

12:30pm: 1 Glucorell

Meal 3: 1:00pm: 4 oz. chick w/ 3 oz sweet potato & 1 fish oil

3:30pm: 1 Glucorell & 1 vitamin C

Meal 4: 4:00pm: 4 oz. chick w/ 3 oz sweet potato & 1 fish oil

5:00pm: Weight Training Shoulders/Back/Biceps

Okay I am posting late but that is only b/c today I skipped work and concentrated on getting myself better, so this morning I slept in!! ;)

Here is the menu for today and all i can say is the increase in fats is making a huge difference. My tummy hurts a little bit but I think its because its not use to getting fats from meat!!

Wake: 7:45am Multi Vitamin & Vitamin C Tab

8:20 am: Cardio: Arc Trainer Intervals 30 minutes: Calories Burned: 400

9:00am: 1 Glucorell

9:15am Meal 1: 1/3 cup of Oatmeal w/ 2 teaspoons of glutamine & 4 oz. Chicken = 15g carbs, 30g protein= 180 calories

Didnt get up to do cardio b/c I was very tired and just needed to sleep so I did.. Here is the menu, the same as yesterday.. Legs are killing me today and that makes me very happy.. i really gave it all i got!! .. The soar throat is gone, but I am still a bit stuffy making hard to breathe through my nose.. its going away slowly but surely..

I am also drinking 3 gallons of water :spit: today, tomorrow and Saturday and then dropping it back to 1 gallon on Sunday.. my trainer wants to see if this will manipulate the body to drop water.. lets see.. trial and error better to try it now before the week of the show..Its 11:30am and I m almost done with the 1st gallon.. :dance2:

If you have a stuffy nose -- try those Breathe Right strips....they come in clear so they won't be extremely noticable & they really work!! When my allergies act up I wear them during cardio so I can breathe!!

I am so psyched everyone, i guess the increase in fats, glutamine, and the 10 different types of decongestions worked!! lol.. I got up today at 5:45am with no problems!!! Today works out to be an off day also!!

Its funny ever since I have stopped over training and took in more fats and listened to both you and Sassy about not worrying about the other competitors I have been feeling better and looking better!!! And guess what the pounds are starting to come off!! ;) Not much but i am at 138lbs right now and if i drop 10lbs of water then I will be 128 or 125lb for competition and that was my personal goal ;) !!

I want to thank you guys soooooooooo much.. I think i will have more pics available for you guys by this weekend!!!

Oh yeah by the way everyone: only 4 more days until my man gets back from the marines!!!!!!!!! its been 3 long lonely months!!!! :busy:

Yup ore is not always better.

Just so you know I reduced my cardio and increased my calories getting ready for this last competition and I came in leaner.

Bunny & Miss 24K: I know you guys are right, my trainer made a deal with me, since I am holding a lot of water and genetically Italians hold more water (so he says) he wants me to do cardio in the morning only for 1 hr and no more cardio during the day just weight train at night.. So sounds good to me!! I use to do 2 hrs of cardio a day when i first started training so 1 hour of cardio is a total cut back!!!..

You guys are awesome, thanks so much for all your support!!!

If you're talking about a post workout shake then no you don't have to take one, but I do. If you're talking about taking it an hour or so after training with a real meal then yes take one.

This is a good question. I take a gluceroll fifteen minutes before my training is over for max absorb. of apple juice. Is this wrong? I thought the gluceroll would HELP with the absorb? Hope it is okay to ask this question here on your log....

My trainer told me, that when dieting for a show taking Glucorell is just wasting your money, because you aren't putting in that many carbs, that you have to worry about your body not using the up.

At this point all I eat is Chick w/ yams or turkey with yams or oatmeal.. so basically the only carbs that are included in my meals are either green veggies (fiber) or yams or oatmeal..

Yes this is what he told me, but again he said only prep comp, because carbs are low, well mine are anyway.

What size portion are you having?

Well I dont carb cycle anymore b/c it was established that it does not work for so i fat load.. but days that I fat load the carb intake goes down.. so days that I fat load I take in between 75-90g of carbs and days that I dont have any fats what so ever my carb intake goes up to 90-110 g.. no more than that!!

But its working.. i have been dropping weight like crazy.. the fluctuation in the calorie intake on those days is so drastic that it tricks the body to tap into fat storages!!! Its great!!!..

Days that i fat load my calories are around 1300-1400 and days that I take out the fat it goes down to 1100-1200 calories a day..

No carb cycling.. just fat cycling and keeping the carbs at a norm.. I am sure I am adding more carbs on friday.. Dont know yet.. I meet with my trainer today to discuss this... He is taking a look at me today..

Thanks Ishchia... I WAS going to ask you how things went with your BF, as you mentioned him returning home etc... however I found the few days laps in posting from ya self-explanatory :verygood:


BTW - You're drinking 3 Gallons of water up until the day of your comp?? If so, I'm curious as to why your trainer suggested this...Sorry if I missed the post previously...
 
I think it's up until tomorrow she drinks that much water and is probably taking a diretic also.


My last show I was drinking 2.5 gallons of water for 5 days then on the thursday nothing, show was friday.

Good Morning All!! Well although the competition is over, my fit and healthy ways will continue strong!! I really appreciate all your kind words and support through out the journey!!!..

Bunny: You have really been a big help and I thank you for inspiring me to continue with my log and really keep track of my nutrition and training.. Thanks Bunny.. Your awesome :heart:

Here it is:

Here is the run down today:

6:20am: 5 mile run (empty stomach)

7:15 : 1 Glucorell

7:30am meal 1: designer whey straw protein shake w/ 10 straw & 1/2 cup of oatmeal & 2 teaspoons of PB

10:00am Meal 2: 2.5 oz of chick w/ string beans, lettuce, chick peas topped off with lemon & olive oil.. 2 cups of coffee

12:00pm Meal 3: 4 oz. Cod

2:00pm: Gym - Train shoulders during lunch 40 mins workout

3:00pm Meal 4: 2.5 oz of chick w/ string beans, lettuce, chick peas topped off with lemon & olive oil.. 2 cups of coffee

5:00pm: Back to the gym to train Back 40 mins & 20 mins cardio

6:15pm: 1 Glucorell

6:30pm Meal 5: Dont know yet but I plan to cheat b/c I am going to my god son's birthday party.. hopefully they have some form of protein and carbs.. lol..

NOTE: Changing the body part combos here is what they use to be during the past 4 months:

Old Routine:
Chest & Triceps
Back
Legs
Shoulders & Biceps
Abs: Every other day

New Routine:
Shoulders & Back
Triceps & Biceps
Chest & Abs
Legs
** Abs every 2 days**

Cardio: 5 miles 5x's a week (I want to see if this will help with bringing down the size of the quads).. Plus I love running.. I am getting better at it ;)

Drinking: 1 gallon & 1/2 - 2 gallons a day during off season.. ;)

Awww thank you girl :rose: ... I am very happy to help ALL of you ladies in any way I can... I truly love hearing the little things the ladies say about how a compliment made their day, went the extra mile on HIIT, did 3 sets of chin ups unassisted, made it thru a comp!!! etc... stuff like that.

Absolutely my pleasure darlin' ... :heart:

Good Morning!! :)

Well I didnt run this morning b/c my legs are shot :rolleyes: so I decided to let them rest!! Instead I headed to the gym to start my shoulder and bicep workout.. I didnt get much done b/c by my 3rd excercise I was starving and feeling dizzy, so I put down the weights and went home for breakfast :chomp: ... Here is the scoop for today:

7:15am Meal1: 1whole egg & 1 white, 1/4 cup of oatmeal & 1 slice of wheat bread w/ yogurt spread

8:30am: 1 cup of coffee w/ a dash of half & half & 2 sweet & lows

10:00am (mid morning snack): 10 cashews & 5 almonds

12:00pm Meal 2:3 oz chick w/ 1/2 cup of broccoli rabe & 4 oz. yam

2:00pm: 40 min cardio session during lunch (arc trainer)

3:00pm Meal 3: turkey burger in low carb wrap w/ onions, romain lettuce & some ketchup

5:00pm: Finish up shoulder & bicep workout

6:00pm Meal 4: 3 oz chick w/ yam & 1/2 cup of broccoli rabe

8:00pm: Going out to dinner with the boyfriend, hopefully sushi & then some ice cream for dessert :p ;)

** Back to running my 5 mile trail tomorrow**

Skipped morning cardio today, I was just way too tired and I think the body needed the rest..

7:00am: 1/2 cup of oatmeal w/ 1scoop of designer whey pp and 4 straws.

9:00am: 2 rice cakes w/ ANPB and SF jelly :p

10:00am: 2 cups of coffee w/ non dairy creamer

and still drinking over a gallon of water a day..

6:00pm: 30 min lower body class
7:00pm: Boot Camp class

I am taking a break from my normal weight training routine and decided to take all different types of classes, however I do plan to continue my morning 5 mile run starting tomorrow.. :mix:
 
July 19th

5 miles completed, however it took me an hour to complete rather then my usual 45mins, the humidity out here is terrible, you can hardly breathe :mix:

I plan on training chest and triceps today after work then taking a boxing class...

here is the menu for today

Meal 1 7:30am : I ran out of eggs this morning :worried: so I had one whole egg w/ two slices of whole grain bread only 15g carbs in each slice and no sodium...and 1 protein pancake :p

Meal 2 10:00am : 1 protein pancake w/ 1 tablespoon of ANPB and SF jelly and 2 cups of coffee :p

Meal 3 12:00pm :
1 lean turkey patty w/ cucumber/tomato and avocado salad with freshly squeezed lemon and olive oil as dressing :verygood:

2:00pm: 30 min cardio session at the gym during lunch :qt:

Meal 4 3:00pm : turkey patty in a spinach wrap w/ more cucumber and tomato and avocado salad :Chef:

Meal 5 5:00pm: 1 protein pancake w/ 1 tablespoon of ANPB and SF jelly :Chef:

6:00pm: Weight train and boxing class :evil:

Meal 6 8:00pm: 2 scoops of designer whey protein powder w/ 1 cup of straw and 1/2 cup of fiber one :p

9:30pm: SLEEP :verygood:

Skipped my 5 mile run.. my body is extremely soar from my intense weight training session and boxing class I took yesterday :worried: Ouch!!

OKay here we go.. ( I need to go food shopping).

7:30am Meal1: 1/2 cup of oatmeal w/ 1.5 scoops of designer whey and a 8oz. glass of crystal light (pink lemonade)

** Drinking about 1 gallon of water followed by 1 gallon of crystal light a day**

9:30am snack: Green apple slices w/ 2 tbspns of ANPB and a handful of fiber one :p

10:00am: 2 cups of coffee :evil:

12:00pm Meal 2: turkey patty w/ 2 oz yam and 1 cup of broccoli rabe

3:00pm Meal 3: turkey patty w/ 2 oz yam and 1 cup of broccoli rabe

5:00pm: Weight Train Legs, followed by a 5 mile run at the trail by my house.. ( i know I am paranoid with my 5 mile run..but I skipped it this morning)..

7:00pm Meal 4: Post work out shake w/ 1 cup of fiber one

9:00pm Meal 5: chicken wrap :p

10:00pm: SLEEP :verygood:
