is training abs lightly right before bed counterproductive?

i'm just doing unweighted crunches and other variations for definition, but should i be doign them before i eat my last meal? Is doing crunches the same as training any other body part, in that you need to eat afterwards to repair the muscles?
 
I do abs on leg day and train them like any other body part twice a week.
The last two hours before bed should be a time of complete relaxation.

Hanging leg raise with weights on ankles: 3 X 12
Decline situps with weight on chest: 3 X 12
Twists with Olympic bar on shoulders: 50

This produces plenty of solid muscle. Then it is my job to diet so they are visible.

It is SO much better doing them when you can work them out properly. When I am ready for bed, that's it, I'm knackered! So I couldn't imagine doing that.

What are you training your abs for- looks, athletic performance, fitness tests?
 
doing abs whenever you first wakeup in the morning would be the best. The abdominals are used all day. If u train them before bed you're just going to get you're heart racing and stay up later :)
