i was at gnc today picking up some protien and the guy was asking me my protien intake and right now im bulking naturally so i told him i take in between 550 and 700 grams a day and he told be that this was way too much and that you should not take in more than 1-1.5 grams per lb everthin that i have read on this board is eat as much protien as possible. now i am 18 and i guess a little gullable so is there n e truth to this or is he just talking out of his ass.

I think it's too much, that's crazy, you probably pee out alot of it and have some converted to glucose -> fat...

personally (natural ) I will not go over 1/2 g per lb of bodyweight when I am consuming carbohydrates....
if on steroids I still don't think you need more then 1g per lb

While its seems excessive, theres no harm if yor digestion system doesn't kill you

I definitly notice a difference in recovery when going from 200grams to 300 grams even if the calories are still kept constant via lowered carb intake.. Soo you can definitly can benifit from over 1 gram per ib of total weight because I'm not quite 200ibs

If he had any sense, he wouldn't be working at GNC. Without knowing your particulars, I'd say start with 1g /lb with powder and use normal food to get the rest. Just be sure to drink lots o'water- at leat a gal/day.

listen to these guys. they know their shit. the guys at GNC do not. 30 grams every 3 hours is a great idea and really makes sense, as your body from what i have read cannot process more than 50 per sitting.

Your body adapts-give it no reason to change-AND IT WON'T. If you are worried about not being 'swole' for the summer then the 500gm a day protein isn't for you.

550-700 seems quite excessive.
even 400g seems a bit high unless you're of dorian proportions.

old schoolers believed excess protien can be toxic to the kidneys but new reserach showed that 1-2 grams protien per pound of lean body mass had no affect on kidney values.

No one needs that amount of protein and I see people in here now dissing good advice!!!

You should only eat around 1-1.25g per pound of bodyweight while bulking. You dont need anymore.

Your carbs are what you need to adjust in order to get your diet on track for building muscle.

Keep your protein constant at 1.25g per pound of bodyweight. Experiment with 3g of carbs per pound of bodyweight. If you find your putting on fat then cut the carbs to 2.5g per pound of bodyweight. If you find your not growing up the carbs to 3.5g per pound of bodyweight.

There is nothing complicated about diet!

LOL,,,,, Amen brother

well the 5-700 grams a day is between 2 and 3 grams a day i am 6'5 and weigh 255 pounds so is that okay or should i cut it back some i get a lot from shakes and i know it doesnt stay in your system very long but i get like 5 shakes a day but i eat alot of food.

Once again... It's not that intake of protein that truly counts, but combination with workouts, rest, and yes, protein intake throughout the day...
I currently have 150 -200 gs of protein a day for my 183 lbs... I am bulking quite well. And it's a good quality bulk. No WATER (I mean of course there is a bit, but no bloating bulshit or moon face). My bf is at 5%. Works for me really well. So, it's all relative. It's all about what you take, when you take and how you take it... Sometimes I wake up at night for my midnight snack...

But how would they attract knowlegeble people at 6 bux an hour? it answeres the question... If you want good advice, go to places like Elite or specialty stores ran by athletes...

Well do tell bro, did you give her a sample of some protein with vitamin C..

GNC advice is this case is fine but a shake or two a day is ample
eat some real food those artificial sweetners at your current
pace is going to grow you a 3rd ear

Lol :D
I hear that.
Some fatass guy was trying to give me advice last time I was there. I didnt even ask him shit he came up to me trying to help me.
He never even heard about Ala and didnt even know if they had any in stock :)
Then he was trying to preach how much brand protein sucked and that the generic GNC is the best kind and priced right

Keep it up. My friend is able (I have no idea how) to eat over 600gm a day of protein (food only) and his intake is not overestimated either as I have seen his meal logs.
