I've got a coupla megs of porn crowding the ol' hard disk, so I need to burn a CD to free up space.
However, I don't own a CD burner.
I'm thinking of buying a CD burner this weekend, installing it, burning my one CD, and returning it to the store.
Would this be unethical?

Check Mysimon.com, I bought a 1.2 ghz amd Athlon through their from an online store about 5 months ago. Got it for $915.00. The thing is jacked!

actually, fuck the ethical part...

an EXTERNAL burner will run you about 150-200... plugs in to your usb port... that way their is no screws or wires etc... easy to use....

but they may have a problem with you opening the disc for the programs... ask before you buy what their return policy is...

man CD burners are so cheap ..why dotn you just keep it after ..it could be very useful in the future

Buy the bare drive (comes with no cables/software), but that's ok, because the power cable and bus cable are already in your PC, and the software sucks anyway. Download Sony CD burning utility & update from here:

$140 for an 8x is ridiculously overpriced.

The thing that kind of sucks about CD burners is that I'm not able to burn at maximum speed ever. I.e. when I had my 8x, I had to burn at 4-6x... now that I have my 12x, I have to burn at 8x. My friend, however, who has WindowsXP beta, can consistently burn perfect CDs at 12x. He hasn't had a single coaster.

Damn him.

I paid that much for my Yamaha 16 x 10 x 40 .

8x you can get for under $100.
