I was reading my new Flex mag. and it said you should train your calves 3-4 times a week. Shouldent it be treated like every other bodypart?

FLEX magazine is total bullshit most of the time.

Do calves like any other body part. Don't believe everything you read. They sell those magazines to make money, and they are really just supplement catalogs with a few pages of muscle routines.

Ask Nelson Montana how much he loves muscle magazines, lol.

must be an add for Muscletech new Gheykic

In all seriousness it sounds like a lot, I would think once or twice a week. I don't train them that much since I played ice hockey from the time i was 5 so I've never had the chicken leg syndrome to start

different views on calf training exist. because of the muscle fiber composition, the fact you are always on your feet, combined with the tight fascia make some say multiple training sessions focusing on the soleus and gastroc individually are necessary. rep ranges and time under tension vary for both muscles so it makes sense. in most cases calf growth is extremely difficult and most dont want to put in the time necessary.

arnold killed his almost everyday and his grew nicely.

Personally I just train my calves at the gym once per week with weights rather than 8 times or whatever. I jog a lot, not that it increases the size of the calves THAT much, although majority of the times after I finish my 5 or 6 mile jogs, it would feel as if my calves took a good 1 hour workout, especially if you're running on a hard ground with thin shoes with lack of padding; it can hurt for some but you will feel it up your leg/s.
