Is this not enough volume?

I am still doing HST for my training

(feel free to tune out now if you don't workout or have a clue - that means you Poyeboy).

Anyway, here is what I did today... this does not include all the warming up of course.

two sets of 210 on bench.. 3 reps each
two sets of standing Straight Bar curl @ 105lbs for 5 reps each
two sets of Seated Rows (machine) @ 180lbs for 5 reps each
two sets of tricept pushdown machine @ 140 for 5 reps each
two sets of incline bench press (smith machine) @ 185 for 5 reps each
two sets of smith machine miltiary press @ 150 for 5 reps each

I do this 3 days a week.. usually I also do another back and bicep exercise as well as shrugs.. today was just a short one because of time constraints.

I do legs as well but not part of this HST program.

if you are going to do 3x/week frequency then I think you SHOULD have low volume

you do upper body 3x week how often lower body?

to tell you the truth I grew very nicely off of a 3x/week full body routine that had even less volume.

very HIGH intensity on every set though. I may go back to it before long

Yeah, the intensity is the key, I keep that high. I'm just wondering if it is enough though ya know? Sometimes it doesn't feel like it.

I know exactly what you mean, because the workouts go so quick and it seems like you should or could do more, it's tempting. have you been seeing results?

at first I did.. lately, not so much, but also lately I've had a lot of time off and haven't been consistent.. I'm trying to get back to where i was..

yeah.. I think you can answer your own question then.. I say stick with the routine since it is proven to work for so many.. it is most likely not the problem.. work on consistency/sleeping/diet to continue progression

6 - 8 rep range is where you need to be.

I do two weeks at 10 reps.. then two weeks at 5 reps... think that is ok?

when did chat become the new training board?

Have you seen the real training board lately?

I wanted to get some replies.

How long are you doing HST?

I only use it to break through barriers and only for 10-12 days at a time.

Then I go back to a fuller program.

Is that the order of exercises you do? Bi`s then Back?

Do you do the 15`s at all? The whole point of HST is frequency and increasing intensity from the previous weeks. I`m not sure you should go High Intensity, you should`nt even go to failure with the lifts.

Some don`t get sore at all doing this type of training. It`s the cumulative effect of the week`s training that makes you grow. Also, are you doing only 2 weeks of each rep range, then going on to the next? If all those are done right, you should have some pretty hard workouts at some point. They don`t all have to be INTENSE workouts. You`ll always break previous PR`s like this.
