Is this how Testosterone causes depression?

Hi All:

I've been on HRT for about 5 months. HRT consists of 200mg of Depotestosterone in the ass every 3 weeks. I've had problems with depression in the past and after learning that I had low Test, I felt like I was really onto something.

Looking back at the past 5 months, there were times where I feel great on this and times where I feel downright shitty. :worried: What I also noticed is that during the times that I felt shitty, I had very high Test levels...like 1000-1200+ (before HRT, I was usually hovering around 250...I'm 30 years old).

When your Test levels shoot up, your Estrogen levels also go up, right? Is that what was making me feel like shit? I felt moody, depressed, loss of sex drive, etc. Testosterone is supposed to HELP all of those things...not cause it. After your test reaches a certain level, your estrogen must kick in, too?

My doc has a agreed to a lower dosage/more frequent injection routine. I'm hoping that the frequent injections of a lower dosage will keep me at a constant level and allow me to get the benefits of HRT without feeling like shit....feeling good is the whole point. :)

Thanks,
Sonny

Your new schedule will help. Unfortunately your doctor was reading the PDR on how to dose testosterone and it's wrong. Your test levels are going up and down like a roller coaster and your mood swings are likely do to that fact. Your shots need to be every 5 days and his scheduling problem of making an appointment for you every 5 days should take a back seat to your problem, but it most likely will not. IF he wakes up and decides to read a little about what he's doing he'll find he has two choices. He is either going to let you do the shots yourself or he should bag the shots altogether and give you gel to put on every day.

Tell the Dr. you want to get on HGH . Say you've heard so many wonderful things about that. He will probably schedule you to come in for a test. Then if you are lucky enough to get on it ,you won't be depressed anymore ,I gauruntee. If he says anything about it ,say you hear it makes you feel all round better about yourself.

test makes me very depressed and anxious, my motivation crashes along with my libido. when i have no injectable test in my system my libido is great, i go to gym 4-5 times a week, i have tons of sex, im happier than a pig in shit overtraining 6 days a week ect...test is not good for me

Go with 200 mg of depo in the ass once per week (10 weeks on, 4+ weeks off)
Mix-in 2 IU's of HGH per day. Shoot it all at once in the AM.

You'll love it.

Well the weird thing is that most of my problems as far as mood, sex drive, etc would happen during the first week after the shot...when the levels were the highest. That's why I was wondering if maybe at that point, I had some estrogen working on me.

I think my doc will go for weekly injections @ 100mg with me doing the injections. I figure that either I'm gonna feel like shit all the time or I'm gonna feel good all the time instead of it being 50/50.

Thanks for the feedback! :)

This thread is depressing for me, here's why: I have never injected test yet, but I was under the impression that while on, you have a greater sense of well being, and that you are happier and just feel better all the way around (sex drive, energy, etc). You are saying it does the opposite for you ? Good luck, and bump for a good explanation.

hrt at 30? While obviously not uncommon it's still young. Have you done anything in the past (aas related)? 200 every 3 weeks is low so it may not be dosage related but i'm curious of your history. aas related usage would help.

Your mood pattern is caused by the roller coaster effect. Your body wants to find a normal balance so too high or too low may have the same effect. Just get on a dosing schedule that will lead to even blood levels and you'll be fine.

generally true.

due to infrequnecy of injection and ester used their are likely large troughs and peaks, where T to E ratio swings to near estrogen dominance during day up to shot.

I have never done AAS or anything like that prior to getting on HRT. My levels were consistently in the low to mid 200's and since I've had some problems over the past 5 years with depression and anxiety, HRT seemed like a really good option. My uncle has low test as well, so maybe there is a genetic component. Low to mid 200's isn't terribly low overall, but my doc said, "for a young whippersnapper like you, it's really low!"

We'll see what my doc says about 100mg per week. At 200 mg every 3 weeks, it was a real rollercoaster ride. So far, at 100mg every 2 weeks, my dick has been a non-functional ornament. I hate it.

I dont get the "well being" sense, I did once, when I was on QV test and that was the very first time I injected.

hang in there.. this sounds like legitimate use of hrt which always isn't the case and sounds like a little adjusting will work.. hang in there

I sincerely wish you the best of luck. Ulter & Macro know what they are talking about, sounds like a new schedule would do the trick. Unfortunately many MD's don't know alot specifically about AAS usage or even HRT (I know this because I have quizzed my MD before). If your MD doesn't agree with the change, go to an endocrinologist.

this is what drew me to testosterone in the first place, well being, vigor, boner's, energy ect. sadly my life plummets on test, i turn into an introvert, i wanna slash my wrists, i get gyno, my hair receeds, i get so much anxiety i go to the gym 1-2 times a week if that. primo is the hardest androgen i will ever run again in my future cycles if any.

I haven't felt shitty all of the time on Test...just some of the time. Some of the time, I have felt pretty damn good!

I have 600mg (3 2mL bottles) of Depotestosterone at my disposal. So, I'm gonna try 100mg/week for the next 6 weeks and see how it goes.

If I feel like shit, I'm gonna get off of HRT. A small percentage of people report feeling like shit (as georgie pointed out) on Test. I'm hoping I'm not one of them and this new dosing scheme should allow me to tell.

I hope it works out because I feel like Test has been better to me than antidepressants....some of the time.

We'll see...starting this Friday. :)

even with an aromatase inhibitor?

I’m on TRT and smoke a lot of CRACK too. But since my total test was 71 (Seventy-One) at age 35 due to years of AS abuse, I get 200mg/week/Depo and Arimidex.

But what I’ve noticed (With Me)
At 200mg I feel OK.
At 400mg I feel like a Horny Junk Yard Dog and feel great
At 800mg I feel like crap and don’t even think about sex unless my chic undresses in front of me.
Again (With Me) 6 days post injection I start to get a little dumpy. I take my Injections every 5 days

Where’s my Crack Pipe?.....

i used research ancillires armidex and nolva, used them both and still nips hurt so bad i though they were being sliced with razors.

i dunno if i can risk running test again even with LEGIT pharmacy anti-e's.. maybe one day when i get the gawl.

i been off for a while and i feel almost great, strong libido, great positive attitude, great sense of well being, im going to gym 4-5 times a week, im prolly over training but im happy going to gym w/out mind games from test. maybe steroids are not for me?

i may run a light nandrolone cycle in the future with LEGIT anti-e's on hand

but for right now im ENJOYING life too much to return to that dark chamber.

everyone has problems and what not, but i think gear makes them feel 1000% times worste and more severe than they really are.

life without anxiety is great.

I read somewhere that the half-life of Test Cypo is around 14 days. Assuming I read correctly, going from one shot per 3 weeks (1.5 half lives) to one shot per week (0.5 half lives) may very well do the trick.

Thanks,

From: http://www.pfizer.com/download/uspi_depo_testosterone.pdf

The half life of testosterone-cypionate when injected intramusculary is approximately 8 days.

So with 3 week intervals, it was going through about 3 half lives. Man, no wonder there was such a huge swing in levels! :mix:

My doc has ok'd my request to do 100mg/week.

Even if it doesn't work, he'll get a Christmas card from me for his willingness to work with me and try out different things.

I dont know how the depression thing works but I was fine before i ever used as and the first time i did i felt even better! The only time I ever felt depressed is about 3 weeks after the end of my cycle. It lasts 3-4 weeks beyond that and then subsides. There's more to this than you think. No one really knows the correct levels and combinations for each person.
