Is there a way to erase all on you computer?

yes and no. there are programs out there that a few key strokes you can erase all sensitive areas on your computer. it is for people who in case of a raid they can run to the computer and press the keys and it gets rid of the info yo0u set up the program to erase. weather it is a few files or the whole hard drive.

now the no part. the feds and computer geeks can get into the computer and dig up stuff that is deleted. it leaves a trail on the harddrive. even though you deleted it, it still has a trace and can be found. the computer hacker people are geniuses. all they do all day long is find out different ways to hack a computer for info.

go to dos and type "format c:"
then click y

i dunno if this is traceable or hackable or whatever, but i did it when i had a virus on my comp

formatting does not erase all. your computer leaves partitions that a geek( my dad) can retrieve. you best bet is to have all sensitive data on a external hard drive. if the cops show up, hammer that bitch. unless you are a big time dealer they are not going to mess that shit though.

no ur wrong... while it does leave a partition... that is easily deleted. The true solution to all these noob computer user posts...go to google and search for a low level formatting utility. if you are still uneasy about it... do it a few more times.. it's very easy and NO ONE is going to try and recover data after the disk has been reformatted. It's dumb to think they would do that for anythign short of terrorism. Another option you have is to buy a bat and smash the shit out of the hd... ur call

Buy a shotgun and keep it right next to your computer. In case of raid run in and blast it a few times, this also has the added benefit of buying you more time with your system, as the police will not come storming into the room when shots are blasting out. :alien:

Yes a low level format will wipe everything, you may have a utility in your computers BIOS that will do it. Basically instead of just wiping the pointers to data it acually overwrites all dta with zero's. This is unretrievable without alot of money being spent to do it. Fairly safe in steroid cases. Format C: can be retrieved with something as simple as nortond disk doctor.
