Is there a certain type of cardio that is better for the heart than others?

Sorry, but i think this is an untrue and unbacked statement. Running outside is the number one cause of bad knees in the US. Your heart has no idea whether or not it's on a treadmill or on a road. It responds the same to each. A precor elliptical will allow you to get to a target HR as quickly as running outside will and sustain your HR easier than running will. So why do you assume that running outside is so paramount?

believe me

you need 30-40 minutes 2-4 times a week!

2 times if you hit legs twice a week like me

or 3-4 if you do legs once

but MOST IMPORTANT

RUN OUTSIDE@!

Huh? I don't agree. If you're doing cardio 3-4 times a week and assuming you're working out at least 4 days a week, that is a SH#$ load of calorie burning. So, if you're in to making fat loss gains and no gains in muscle...do cardio 3-4 times a week in addition to lifting. Otherwise, your diet can be so clean that you can very easily get away with cardio 1-2 times a week max. AND that whole thing about lifting legs 2wice a week??? I dunno, mine need at least 5 to recover and you're leaving out a bodypart if your taxing your legs 2wice youre not giving the rest of the body proper attention IMO

I just find it really hard to pack on size if i run. Too much impact tearing down what you're trying to build.

Try telling that to the people who train WESTSIDE BARBELL.

I've trained with Louie before and it's no picnic. But remember, Westside is mainly a powerlifting gym. Different mentality

bro, have you ever used a stepmill(gauntlet) machine??? This machine if used at a high intensity will blow away running any day of the week.

well about claorie burining and all that and it beind too hard on your kness go cry me a river:)

are you ballerinas or athletes?

In football in te dead of summer we ran2 times a day 2-3 hours a pop.......

and at the end of 1 month not only did we become strong as bison, but lean, and helthy

our resting heart rates were measured and it was like 40 beats a minute or less

Thats cool. Your probably young still, keep pounding the pavement and we'll see how deep your squats are 10 years from now. And as far as your ballerina comment goes...WTF? Are you saying that ballerinas aren't athletes? Try picking up a 115 pound dumbbell overhead and then standing on your toes only, run across the gym! Then take some pics of yourself doing this and post them so we can laugh or balls off. "strong as bison" pffft! And if you ran a total of 4-6 hours a day in the dead of summer, your coach probably killed 1/2 of his players.
